Job Description and Duties

SENIOR PARK AIDE (SEASONAL) – NORTHERN BUTTES DISTRICT / CASCADE SECTOR / MCARTHUR BURNEY FALLS MEMORIAL STATE PARK

“Priority consideration will be given to any person receiving State public assistance under the CalWORKs program. Applicants who receive State public assistance need to identify their status as a CalWORKs recipient in the comments area on the application. Applicants must submit a verification of their CalWORKs eligibility status, which may include the most recent Notice of Action showing TANF eligibility or a copy of your last aid check stub. If verification is not submitted with the application, the application will not be processed. (Applicants may obtain verification from the CalWORKs program).”

The Senior Park Aide reporting location is McArthur-Burney Falls State Memorial Park located at 24898 CA-89, Burney CA 96013. The Park Aide works under the supervision of the State Park Peace Officer Supervisor (Ranger) and under the direction of the Senior Park Aides as applicable.

The Park Aide is expected to work weekends, holidays, and evenings if necessary and assigned days off may vary from month to month. The normal work hours are 10-hour shifts occurring between the hours of 8:00 am to 8:00 pm, up to five days per week including weekends, holidays and during special events. This position can work 189 days in a 12 consecutive month period or a maximum of 1500 hours within 12 consecutive months per California Code of Regulation 265.1. This position is designated as not telework eligible. This is a uniformed position, and the successful candidates will be required to purchase and wear a State Parks uniform.

The Department of Parks and Recreation is hiring for multiple Senior Park Aide positions. This position is seasonal with an approximate start date of May 1 2026, and extending through late 2026.

The Senior Park Aide (Seasonal) leads seasonal Park Aides in Kiosk operation; prepares routine reports and accounting documents for fees collected; checks park facilities and reports problems; handles minor visitor complaints; explains park policies and regulations to the visiting public; answers routine questions from the public; coordinates occasional housekeeping activities; may give instruction in the safe and proper use of housekeeping supplies; inspects completed work for quality control and conformance to established standards; trains lower-level seasonal employees; and may assist in campfire and interpretive programs. This position may be required to assist operations at Lake Oroville and other units throughout the Sector as needed.

The selected candidate is required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting prior to appointment.

Possession of a valid driver’s license of the appropriate class and a safe driving record as documented by the Department of Motor Vehicles within 60 days prior to appointment. (A safe driving record is one free from convictions in the past two years for repeated moving violations or a single serious violation, such as drunk driving or reckless driving.)
