Job Description and Duties

OFFICE TECHNICIAN (TYPING) – COLORADO DESERT DISTRICT / ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES / BORREGO SPRINGS

The reporting location for this position is Colorado Desert District located in Borrego Springs, CA. This position will work under the direction of Supervisor I.

The Office Technician (Typing) is responsible for performing advanced journey level tasks associated with accounting functions of the District and may provide functional guidance to staff assisting in the Accounting Office. The position will perform a variety of duties and is expected to consistently exercise a high degree of initiative, independence and originality in performing assigned tasks. The position is responsible for the detailed work involved in all segments of the accounting function, including the knowledge and application of detailed regulations, policies and procedures in accomplishing these tasks.

Training and Development Assignments may be considered.

Possession of a valid Class C driver’s license is required. You must answer the questions addressing your driver’s license on your application. Ensure you provide your driver’s license number, class, expiration date, and any endorsements and/or restrictions on your application.

The selected candidate is required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting prior to appointment.

TYPING CERTIFICATE REQUIRED
State departments will honor typing certificates issued within the last four years, certified from a five (5) minute typing test that meets the CalHR requirements, with a minimum of 40 WPM (words per minute), and proctored either virtually or in person.The Employment Development Department’s (EDD) One-Stop Career Centers may offer free typing tests. Occasional travel may be required. Possession of a valid driver’s license is required when operating a state owned or leased vehicle.

This position is designated as not telework eligible.

Special Requirement/Condition of Employment: Depending on the assigned location, the incumbent may be required to occupy state-owned housing to meet operational needs or may be offered state-owned housing if available. Housing assignments will be determined in accordance with Department policy, operational priorities, and applicable labor agreements.
