SENIOR PARK AIDE (SEASONAL) – MONTEREY DISTRICT / PFEIFFER BIG SUR STATE PARK

The reporting location for this position is Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park in Monterey, CA. This position works under the direct supervision of the Big Sur Sector State Park Peace Officer Supervisor.
The Big Sur Sector of California State Parks has an opening for seasonal Special Event Coordinator. The Senior Park Aide (seasonal) Special Event Coordinator is responsible for facilitating the sector’s special events and film permitting program, assisting individuals and organizations with the preparation of applications, drafting permits and compiling required documentation, reviewing permit applications, and maintaining and improving the event permit processes. The Special Event Coordinator also provides leadership and support to the Visitor Services seasonal staff by assisting with kiosk operations.
Knowledge and experience with park operations, lead responsibilities, and customer service is desired.
Training is provided. You must be willing to work a day shift or swing shift, weekends, and holidays. A 40-hour work week is normal. This position may work up to 1500 hours within 12 consecutive months. The selected candidate is required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting prior to appointment. Interviews will be held at Big Sur Station in Big Sur, CA. This position is designated as not telework eligible.
Possession of a valid driver’s license of the appropriate class and a safe driving record as documented by the Department of Motor Vehicles within 60 days prior to appointment. (A safe driving record is one free from convictions in the past two years for repeated moving violations or a single serious violation, such as drunk driving or reckless driving.)
State housing may be required. Special Requirement/Condition of Employment: Depending on the assigned location, the incumbent may be required to occupy state-owned housing to meet operational needs or may be offered state-owned housing if available. Housing assignments will be determined in accordance with Department policy, operational priorities, and applicable labor agreements.
