Job Description and Duties

PARK MAINTENANCE WORKER I – DISTRICT FACILITIES MANAGEMENT / ADA MAINTENANCE PROGRAM / McCLELLAN

This classification is subject to the Post and Bid process. Applications from a certification list, transfer change in class, reinstatement, re-employment, and training and development assignment candidates will be accepted for this position but consistent with the MOU/Bargaining Agreement BU12/13 contract cannot be acted upon unless the Post & Bid process does not result in a hire.

The reporting location for this position is 4940 Lang Avenue in McClellan, CA. This position will work under the supervision of Park Maintenance Chief I.

The Park Maintenance Worker I will work with various skilled and semi-skilled staff to maintain and improve park structures and facilities. This position will be responsible for the administration of the Department's Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Compliance and Maintenance Program activities. The Park Maintenance Worker I will act as lead worker on remote accessible trail construction and maintenance projects to ensure department compliance with Tucker Consent Decree in accordance with department goals. This will include performing heavy manual labor in difficult terrain and weather conditions, perform, lead, and train others in skilled and semiskilled structural and facility maintenance and repair work, ensuring safe work practices are implemented and followed on the project, establishing and overseeing remote work "Spike" camps, performing administrative duties such as record keeping, project tracking, purchasing, monthly reporting, project development and planning.

Training and Development Assignments may be considered.

Possession of a valid Class C driver’s license is required. You must answer the questions addressing your driver’s license on your application. Ensure you provide your driver’s license number, class, expiration date, and any endorsements and/or restrictions on your application.

The incumbent’s work schedule will be Wednesday to Wednesday from 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM.

Extensive travel may be required. Possession of a valid driver’s license is required when operating a state owned or leased vehicle.

Per California Code of Regulations (CCR) 599.961, this is a sensitive position, and therefore subject to drug and alcohol testing. It should be noted that testing is not mandatory, but is allowed to be conducted only if and when there is a determination of reasonable suspicion as defined in CCR 599.962.

This position is designated as not telework eligible.
