STATE PARK SUPERINTENDENT II – SANTA CRUZ DISTRICT / SANTA CRUZ SECTOR / SANTA CRUZ MISSION STATE HISTORIC PARK
The reporting location for this position is Santa Cruz Mission State Historic Park in Santa Cruz, CA. This position will work under the direction of the State Park Superintendent III.
The Operations Superintendent reports to the Chief Ranger (State Park Superintendent III) and is a member of the District’s Management Team. This position is primarily responsible for the Operations Logistics and management of the District’s Visitor Service program, including Day Use and Camping Operations, R2S2 Reservation Program, APM and Yodel parking management, schedules, coordinating daily with co-management partner Friends of Santa Cruz State Parks, code 3 fleet management, managing the Special Events Program, film permits, DMV Records management, Livescan Management, NORCOM Liaison and Telecommunications management, Revenue Generation, Seasonal Budget management, SPPO Equipment Purchasing, Park Operations Training Coordination, Information Technician, acts as secondary Public Information Officer, and fostering relationships with partners and allied agencies.
This position will provide support and guidance to the SPPO Supervisor staff and all visitor services staff of all Park Units of the Santa Cruz District. This position works closely with the Santa Cruz District Public Safety Superintendent to assist with the execution of Public Safety duties as necessary. This position has direct oversight over Supervising State Park Peace Officers within the District.
Possession of a valid Class C driver’s license is required. You must answer the questions addressing your driver’s license on your application. Ensure you provide your driver’s license number, class, expiration date, and any endorsements and/or restrictions on your application.
Per California Code of Regulations (CCR) 599.961, this is a sensitive position, and therefore subject to drug and alcohol testing. It should be noted that testing is not mandatory, but is allowed to be conducted only if and when there is a determination of reasonable suspicion as defined in CCR 599.962.
This position is designated as not telework eligible.

Special Requirement/Condition of Employment: Depending on the assigned location, the incumbent may be required to occupy state-owned housing to meet operational needs, or may be offered state-owned housing if available. Housing assignments will be determined in accordance with Department policy, operational priorities, and applicable labor agreements.
