SENIOR PARK AIDE (SEASONAL) – MONTEREY DISTRICT / POINT LOBOS STATE NATURAL RESERVE
“Priority consideration will be given to any person receiving State public assistance under the CalWORKs program. Applicants who receive State public assistance need to identify their status as a CalWORKs recipient in the comments area on the application. Applicants must submit a verification of their CalWORKs eligibility status, which may include the most recent Notice of Action showing TANF eligibility or a copy of your last aid check stub. The reporting location is Point Lobos State Natural Reserve.The Senior Park Aide (Summer Adventures Counselor) works under the lead and oversight of the State Park Interpreter III and under the direction of the State Park Interpreter I.

California State Parks is accepting applications for the Point Lobos Summer Adventures Outdoor Program Counselor. The goal of the Summer Adventures Program is to provide the next generation with opportunities to explore and experience the joys of recreating in both California State Parks and local Monterey Peninsula parks. The Summer Adventures Counselor works collaboratively with all Summer Adventures team members to provide high quality experiences for all camp participants. Applicants must be able to lift up to 20lbs, stand for long periods of time, hike up to five miles in a day, feel confident in an ocean kayaking environment, and be able to participate in whale watching programs with students in an ocean-going vessel.
The program includes three sessions during the 2026 summer season. You will be responsible for organizing, scheduling, and providing management of program activities designed to guide students, ages 8 to 15 through a series of outdoor adventures that includes hiking, rock climbing, kayaking, whale watching, arts and crafts, and much more. Previous experience overseeing children’s activities programs and a desire to work with children is necessary. This position involves program organizational skills as well as general customer service and/or educational experience.
This position may work up to 1500 hours within 12 consecutive months. This position is designated as not telework eligible.
The selected candidate is required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting prior to appointment.
Possession of a valid driver’s license of the appropriate class and a safe driving record as documented by the Department of Motor Vehicles within 60 days prior to appointment. (A safe driving record is one free from convictions in the past two years for repeated moving violations or a single serious violation, such as drunk driving or reckless driving.)
