FORESTRY AIDE – DIABLO RANGE DISTRICT / NATURAL RESOURCES SOUTH
“Priority consideration will be given to any person receiving State public assistance under the CalWORKs program. The reporting location for this position is at 7800 Cienega Rd, Hollister CA 95023, Hollister Hills State Vehicular Recreation Area. This position will work under the supervision of the Southern Resource Park Maintenance Supervisor. The Forestry Aide is a seasonal position working on the Resource Crew for the Southern Half of the Diablo Range District.
The Forestry Aide is a seasonal position involved subprofessional tasks in Forestry and Natural Resource work on State Parks. This job includes the ability to perform a variety of manual labor work to restore and maintain State Park resources including, forestry-related fuel reduction labor, cannabis site cleanup, trail work, revegetation, data collection, wildlife monitoring, exotic plant removal, and invasive species management. As expected, this job requires working outdoors in inclement weather conditions, hiking over uneven and steep terrain, and carrying heavy loads.
The incumbent’s typical work schedule hours are Monday to Thursday from 6:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. This schedule is dependent on workload/operational needs. The incumbent may also work nights and weekends depending on program/project needs. Experience in Forestry and familiarity with Natural Resource Management is highly desired. This position may work up to 1500 hours within 12 consecutive months. This position is designated as not telework eligible.
The selected candidate is required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting prior to appointment.
This position requires a valid Class C driver’s license. You must answer the questions addressing your driver’s license on your application. Ensure you provide your driver’s license number, class, expiration date, and any endorsements and/or restrictions on your application.

It should be noted that testing is not mandatory, but is allowed to be conducted only if and when there is a determination of reasonable suspicion as defined in CCR 599.962.
