Job Description and Duties
PARK MAINTENANCE WORKER I / SAN DIEGO COAST DISTRICT /SOUTH CARLSBAD STATE BEACH / NORTH SECTOR
Possession of a valid Class C driver’s license is required. You must answer the questions addressing your driver’s license on your application. Ensure you provide your driver’s license number, class, expiration date, and any endorsements and/or restrictions on your application.
This is a uniformed position, and the employee must comply with all applicable Departmental uniform and grooming standards.
Per California Code of Regulations (CCR) 599.961, this is a sensitive position, and therefore subject to drug and alcohol testing. It should be noted that testing is not mandatory, but is allowed to be conducted only if and when there is a determination of reasonable suspicion as defined in CCR 599.962.
The selected candidate is required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting prior to appointment.
This classification is subject to the Post and Bid process. Applications from a certification list, transfer change in class, reinstatement, re-employment, and training and development assignment candidates will be accepted for this position but consistent with the MOU/Bargaining Agreement BU12/13 contract cannot be acted upon unless the Post & Bid process does not result in a hire.
The reporting location for this position is South Carlsbad State Beach. This position will work under the general supervision of the Park Maintenance Chief. The Park Maintenance Worker I will do routine cleanup and unskilled maintenance work, perform various housekeeping, groundskeeping and minor maintenance tasks; answers routine questions from the public as necessary; completes miscellaneous reports.
This position may require you to work throughout the district on occasion. Duties require this position to lead a staff of seasonal park maintenance employees in the daily operations of housekeeping, facility maintenance, and equipment operations in the day use lots. This is a challenging and rewarding position and you will be joining a solid team of professionals. The work schedule is 4/10/40 workweek.
The incumbent’s work schedule will be Sunday to Wednesday from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Training and development assignments may be considered.
This position is designated as not telework eligible.
