SENIOR PARK AIDE (SEASONAL) –SIERRA DISTRICT / LAKE SECTOR
“Priority consideration will be given to any person receiving State public assistance under the CalWORKs program. Applicants who receive State public assistance need to identify their status as a CalWORKs recipient in the comments area on the application. Applicants must submit a verification of their CalWORKs eligibility status, which may include the most recent Notice of Action showing TANF eligibility or a copy of your last aid check stub. If verification is not submitted with the application, the application will not be processed. (Applicants may obtain verification from the CalWORKs program).”
This position works under the supervision of the District Interpreter III with guidance from the Lake Tahoe Sector State Park Interpreter I. The reporting location is the Sector office at Ed Z'Berg Sugar Pine Point with work locations throughout the sector, including D.L. Bliss and Emerald Bay State Parks.
The Senior Park Aide (Seasonal) will conduct interpretive and educational outreach, including nature and history walks, virtual learning programs and digital field trips, Junior Ranger activities and campfire programs, and winter programs; perform routine public contact work; answer questions on rules and regulations and facilities for the public; assist in maintaining interpretive collections and historic structures; assist with fee collection and Sierra State Parks Foundation sales; and do other related work as assigned.
They may be required work on Saturday, Sundays, and holidays, and at odd or irregular hours. The purchase and wearing of a State Park uniform will be required. State Park grooming standards must be met. Driving a State vehicle in accomplishing the following tasks may be required. This position may work up to 1500 hours within 12 consecutive months. This position is designated as not telework eligible.
The selected candidate is required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting prior to appointment.
Possession of a valid driver’s license of the appropriate class and a safe driving record as documented by the Department of Motor Vehicles within 60 days prior to appointment. (A safe driving record is one free from convictions in the past two years for repeated moving violations or a single serious violation, such as drunk driving or reckless driving.)
State housing may be required. Special Requirement/Condition of Employment: Depending on the assigned location, the incumbent may be required to occupy state-owned housing to meet operational needs or may be offered state-owned housing if available. Housing assignments will be determined in accordance with Department policy, operational priorities, and applicable labor agreements.
