STATE PARK PEACE OFFICER (RANGER) (SET) – LAW ENFORCEMENT AND EMERGENCY SERVICES DIVISION / SPECIAL ENFORCEMENT TEAM
The reporting location for this position is negotiable. Under the supervision of the Special Enforcement Team (SET) State Park Peace Officer Supervisor (Ranger), this position will serve as a State Park Peace Officer, with an emphasis on stewardship and operation of state park units with the goal of discouraging and preventing illegal cannabis cultivation, consistent with Revenue and Taxation Code 34019 (f)(2)(B). This position is required to work in rugged outdoor terrain. This position may be assigned to the California Department of Justice's Eradication and Prevention of Illicit Cannabis (EPIC) program. This position may be assigned to the Unified Cannabis Enforcement Task Force (UCETF). This position is required to work in and around helicopters and fixed wing aircraft. Extensive travel is required for this position. This position will carry out the required duties working within SET and supporting local District public safety functions.
Incumbents will be required to participate in a bi-annual medical surveillance program. The medical surveillance program monitors employees for potential exposure to insecticides.
Candidates will be required to pass a physical / skill assessment test in order to qualify for this position.
Appointment to the (SET) position to be based on an interview, physical fitness and skills assessment not seniority. Skills testing may involve proficiency evaluation or scenarios involving firearms, defensive tactics and first aid. In order to be eligible for this position, candidates must have a minimum of two years’ experience as a DPR State Park Peace Officer (Ranger) or (Lifeguard).
This position is designated as not telework eligible.
Possession of a valid Class C driver’s license is required. You must answer the questions addressing your driver’s license on your application. Ensure you provide your driver’s license number, class, expiration date, and any endorsements and/or restrictions on your application.
The selected candidate is required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting prior to appointment.
