SENIOR PARK AIDE (SEASONAL) – NORTH COAST REDWOODS DISTRICT / REDWOOD COAST SECTOR
“Priority consideration will be given to any person receiving State public assistance under the CalWORKs program. Applicants who receive State public assistance need to identify their status as a CalWORKs recipient in the comments area on the application. Applicants must submit a verification of their CalWORKs eligibility status, which may include the most recent Notice of Action showing TANF eligibility or a copy of your last aid check stub. If verification is not submitted with the application, the application will not be processed. (Applicants may obtain verification from the CalWORKs program).”
The Redwood Coast Sector – North, of California State Parks has multiple openings for a Visitor Services Senior Park Aide.
The reporting location for this position is Del Norte Coast State Park, Mill Creek Campground – Crescent City, CA. This position will be supervised by the Supervising State Park Peace Officer and will work under the direction of the lead State Park Peace Officer (Ranger) for Del Norte Coast State Park, Mill Creek Campground.
The Senior Park Aide is responsible for providing quality customer service, answering visitor questions via phone or in person, and explaining rules and regulations. Job duties include the following: Training, coordinating and leading Visitor Service Park Aides in the kiosk; work cooperatively with park staff, and volunteers for optimal visitor center operations. In addition, the Senior Park Aide must be proficient in basic use of a computer to download camping reservations; operate a cash register; report funds collected; and check work e-mail account. Must be able to work, holidays, weekends and special events.
Senior Park Aides must be able to work independently; follow instructions; use supplies and equipment required and provided by the job. If hired, Senior Park Aides must be willing to purchase and wear a uniform. This position can work 189 days in a 12 consecutive month period or a maximum of 1500 hours within 12 consecutive months per California Code of Regulation 265.1. This position is designated as not telework eligible.
The selected candidate is required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting prior to appointment.
Possession of a valid driver’s license of the appropriate class and a safe driving record as documented by the Department of Motor Vehicles within 60 days prior to appointment. (A safe driving record is one free from convictions in the past two years for repeated moving violations or a single serious violation, such as drunk driving or reckless driving.)
State Housing may be required. Special Requirement/Condition of Employment: Depending on the assigned location, the incumbent may be required to occupy state-owned housing to meet operational needs or may be offered state-owned housing if available. Housing assignments will be determined in accordance with Department policy, operational priorities, and applicable labor agreements.
