SENIOR PARK AIDE (SEASONAL) – SIERRA DISTRICT / LAKE SECTOR
“Priority consideration will be given to any person receiving State public assistance under the CalWORKs program. Applicants who receive State public assistance need to identify their status as a CalWORKs recipient in the comments area on the application. Applicants must submit a verification of their CalWORKs eligibility status, which may include the most recent Notice of Action showing TANF eligibility or a copy of your last aid check stub. If verification is not submitted with the application, the application will not be processed. (Applicants may obtain verification from the CalWORKs program).”
The Senior Park Aide reporting locations are Donner Memorial State Park, Kings Beach State Recreation Area or Tahoe State Recreation Area. This position works under the supervision of the Supervising Ranger or designee.
The primary duties of the Senior Park Aide (SPA) are to support the daily Visitor Services operation of the day use and campground operations. The wearing of a uniform is required. The SPA leads lower- level seasonal Park Aides in Kiosk operation; prepares routine reports and accounting documents for fees collected; checks park facilities and reports problems; handles minor visitor complaints; explains park policies and regulations to the visiting public; answers routine questions from the public; coordinates occasional housekeeping activities; inspects completed work of Park Aides for quality control and performance to established standards; trains lower-level seasonal employees. Applicants must have at least one year of Park Aide experience or the equivalent and be able to work with direction from supervisor on independent assignments.
This position may work up to 1500 hours within 12 consecutive months. This position is designated as not telework eligible.
The selected candidate is required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting prior to appointment.
Possession of a valid driver’s license of the appropriate class and a safe driving record as documented by the Department of Motor Vehicles within 60 days prior to appointment. (A safe driving record is one free from convictions in the past two years for repeated moving violations or a single serious violation, such as drunk driving or reckless driving.)
State housing may be required. Special Requirement/Condition of Employment: Depending on the assigned location, the incumbent may be required to occupy state-owned housing to meet operational needs or may be offered state-owned housing if available. Housing assignments will be determined in accordance with Department policy, operational priorities, and applicable labor agreements.
