Job Description and Duties
PARK MAINTENANCE WORKER I / SAN DIEGO COAST DISTRICT / TORREY PINES STATE NATURAL RESERVE / NORTH SECTOR
Possession of a valid Class C driver’s license is required. You must answer the questions addressing your driver’s license on your application. Ensure you provide your driver’s license number, class, expiration date, and any endorsements and/or restrictions on your application.
This is a uniformed position, and the employee must comply with all applicable Departmental uniform and grooming standards.
Per California Code of Regulations (CCR) 599.961, this is a sensitive position, and therefore subject to drug and alcohol testing. It should be noted that testing is not mandatory, but is allowed to be conducted only if and when there is a determination of reasonable suspicion as defined in CCR 599.962.
The selected candidate is required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting prior to appointment.
This classification is subject to the Post and Bid process. Applications from a certification list, transfer change in class, reinstatement, re-employment, and training and development assignment candidates will be accepted for this position but consistent with the MOU/Bargaining Agreement BU12/13 contract cannot be acted upon unless the Post & Bid process does not result in a hire.
The reporting location for this position is the Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve Maintenance Shop. This position will work under the direction of the Park Maintenance Chief I.
The Park Maintenance Worker I is an integral part of the maintenance operation at this one of a kind State Natural Reserve. This position will work throughout the Reserve and State Beach to ensure that the facilities are in good repair and safe for the millions of visitors that come to the park each year. This position may work as a lead over seasonal employees and assist with various volunteer groups. This challenging position will allow the incumbent the opportunity to further develop skills in carpentry, plumbing, electrical, purchasing, overseeing contract operators and the Department Online programs.
The incumbent’s work schedule will be Wednesday to Saturday from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Training and development assignments may be considered.
This position is designated as not telework eligible.
