PARK AIDE (SEASONAL) – NORTHERN BUTTES DISTRICT / CASCADE SECTOR / CASTLE CRAGS STATE PARK
“Priority consideration will be given to any person receiving State public assistance under the CalWORKs program. Applicants who receive State public assistance need to identify their status as a CalWORKs recipient in the comments area on the application. Applicants must submit a verification of their CalWORKs eligibility status, which may include the most recent Notice of Action showing TANF eligibility or a copy of your last aid check stub. If verification is not submitted with the application, the application will not be processed. (Applicants may obtain verification from the CalWORKs program).”
The Park Aide reporting location is Castle Crags State Park at 20022 Castle Creek Rd, Castella, CA. The Park Aides works under the supervision of the Supervising Ranger and under the general direction of the Senior Park Aides.
The Park Aide is expected to work weekends, holidays, and evenings if necessary and assigned days off may vary from month to month. The normal work hours are 10-hour shifts occurring between the hours of 8:00 am to 10:00 pm, up to five days per week including weekends, holidays and during special events. This position can work 189 days in a 12 consecutive month period or a maximum of 1500 hours within 12 consecutive months per California Code of Regulation 265.1. This position is designated as not telework eligible. Reliable transportation is essential due to the remote work location. This is a uniformed position, and the successful candidates will be required to purchase and wear a State Parks uniform.
Department of Parks and Recreation is hiring for multiple Park Aide positions. This position is seasonal with an approximate start date of May 1, 2026, and extending through late 2026.
Park Aides will operate the entrance station at Castle Crags State Park. Duties include: Collection of park fees, register campers, complete end of day cash register accounting and associated collections paperwork, maintain cleanliness inside and outside of park entrance station, maintain entrance station landscaping. Park Aides provide park information, explain park rules, and give directions to park facilities, surrounding area features and establishments. Must be willing to work evenings, weekends, and holidays. Basic reading, writing and math skills are a must. Reliable transportation is essential due to the remote work location.
The selected candidate is required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting prior to appointment.
Possession of a valid driver’s license of the appropriate class and a safe driving record as documented by the Department of Motor Vehicles within 60 days prior to appointment. (A safe driving record is one free from convictions in the past two years for repeated moving violations or a single serious violation, such as drunk driving or reckless driving.)
