Job Description and Duties

ENVIRONMENTAL PROGRAM MANAGER I (PERMANENT FULLTIME) - OHMVR / COMPLIANCE SECTION / SACRAMENTO, CA

The reporting location for this position is 715 P Street, Sacramento, CA 95814. This position will work under the direction of the OHMVR Deputy Director.

The Off-Highway Motor Vehicle Recreation (OHMVR) Division is currently seeking to fill the position of Environmental Program Manager I (EPM I). In coordination with OHMVRs Deputy Director, Park Operations, and Natural Resource Division Chiefs, the EPM I manages the OHV Environmental Compliance Program for the OHMVR Division. The OHMVR Division is mandated to ensure OHV recreational areas are managed for long-term environmental sustainability and to comply with applicable environmental laws, guidelines, and regulations. Responsibilities include programmatic oversight of soil standards and wildlife habitat, habitat restoration, and project planning and assessment for compliance with California Environmental Quality Act, National Environmental Policy Act, state and federal Endangered Species Acts, state Fish and Game Code, and state clean air and water mandates. The incumbent works with the Off Highway Vehicle Grants Team to ensure environmental compliance with grant regulations, California Code of Regulations, and the Public Resources Code. The EPM I will develop adaptive management techniques which are incorporated into on site management activities within State Vehicular Recreation Areas. Travel is required in this position.
The EPM I will be required to work in high-level, politically sensitive areas. A high level of political acumen is required.

When working in the field, this position requires regular travel between park units and off-site locations. Travel between park units and off-site locations is required to meet program delivery and operational needs.

This position is designated as telework eligible-remote centered.
