Job Description and Duties

PARK AIDE (SEASONAL) – NORTHERN BUTTES DISTRICT / LAKE OROVILLE SECTOR / LAKE OROVILLE STATE RECREATION AREA

“Priority consideration will be given to any person receiving State public assistance under the CalWORKs program. Applicants who receive State public assistance need to identify their status as a CalWORKs recipient in the comments area on the application. Applicants must submit a verification of their CalWORKs eligibility status, which may include the most recent Notice of Action showing TANF eligibility or a copy of your last aid check stub. If verification is not submitted with the application, the application will not be processed. (Applicants may obtain verification from the CalWORKs program).”

The Park Aide reporting location is Lake Oroville State Recreation Area located in Oroville, CA. The Park Aide works under the supervision of the State Park Peace Officers (Ranger) and under the direction of the Senior Park Aides as applicable.

The Park Aide is expected to work weekends, holidays, and evenings if necessary and assigned days off may vary from month to month. The normal work hours are 10-hour shifts, 3 shifts including graveyard, up to five days per week including weekends, holidays and during special events.
This position can work 189 days in a 12 consecutive month period or a maximum of 1500 hours within 12 consecutive months per California Code of Regulation 265.1. This position is designated as not telework eligible. This is a uniformed position, and the successful candidates will be required to purchase and wear a State Parks uniform.

The Department of Parks and Recreation is hiring for multiple Park Aide positions. This position is seasonal with an approximate start date of April 2026, extending through late 2026.

Park Aides operate the entrance station at Lake Oroville SRA and are the primary point of contact for park visitors. Park Aides will collect park day use fees, registering campers, completing end of day cash register accounting and associated collections paperwork, maintaining cleanliness inside and outside of park entrance station. Park Aides provide park information, explain park rules, and give directions to park facilities, surrounding area features and establishments. Basic reading, writing, and math skills are required.

The selected candidate is required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting prior to appointment.
