Job Description and Duties

STATE PARK INTERPRETER I (PERMANENT FULL-TIME) / DIABLO RANGE DISTRICT / ALTAMONT SECTOR / CARNEGIE STATE VEHICULAR RECREATION AREA

The reporting location is the Altamont Sector Office, 18595 W. Corral Hollow Rd, Tracy located in the rolling Altamont Hills.

Under the direction of the State Park Interpreter III, the State Park Interpreter I supports the planning, development, and delivery of interpretive programs and projects for multiple park units within the Diablo Range District. The position provides interpretive and educational programs, coordinates volunteers, and conducts outreach at park sites, schools, community events, and meetings.

This is a field-based position that requires regular travel between park units and off-site locations. Duties are performed primarily outdoors and may involve the use of interpretive materials and equipment in program delivery. Regular travel between park units and off-site locations is required to meet program delivery and operational needs.

The Diablo Range District is hiring a State Park Interpreter I to develop, coordinate, publicize and present high quality interpretive programs, publications, exhibits, and projects related to Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) recreation with special emphasis on balancing the appreciation and protection of California's resources while enjoying active recreation. The Altamont Sector maintains numerous historic and pre-historic sites, as well as a rich diversity of natural resources. This position is responsible for coordinating efforts and activities that effectively communicate the importance of environmental stewardship, appreciation for historic and cultural resources and responsible recreation.


Training and Development Assignments may be considered.

The selected candidate is required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting prior to appointment.
