Job Description and Duties

PARK AND RECREATION SPECIALIST (PERMANENT-INTERMITTENT) / NORTH COAST DISTRICT / SERVICE DRIVEN / FORT HUMBOLDT STATE HISTORIC PARK

Reporting location address is 3431 Fort Ave, Eureka, CA 95503. This position works under the close supervision of the Senior Park and Recreation Specialist and under the technical guidance of the Engineering Geologist for the Roads, Trails, and Resource Maintenance Section,

This position will be the Roads Crew Specialist and perform as a Project Coordinator that supports the planning, coordination, and implementation of landform restoration, road and trail improvement, and watershed stabilization projects. Coordinates field activities, prepares project documentation and maps, and facilitates communication. Assists with contract coordination and serves as the State’s on-site representative during project implementation to support scheduling, compliance, and quality control. Also leads seasonal staff or volunteers and collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to complete projects in accordance with Department standards, Best Management Practices, and permit requirements. Additionally, the position supports environmental compliance, maintains GIS road and trail inventory data, and produces project records, reports, and grant support materials.

This position may work up to 1500 hours in any calendar year.

Occasional travel may be required. Possession of a valid driver’s license is required when operating a state owned or leased vehicle.

Training and Development Assignments may be considered.

This position is designated as not telework eligible.

Possession of a valid Class C driver’s license is required. You must answer the questions addressing your driver’s license on your application. Ensure you provide your driver’s license number, class, expiration date, and any endorsements and/or restrictions on your application.

The selected candidate is required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting prior to appointment.
