Job Description and Duties

PARK AIDE (SEASONAL) – GOLD FIELDS DISTRICT / FOLSOM LAKE STATE RECREATION AREA

“Priority consideration will be given to any person receiving State public assistance under the CalWORKs program. Applicants who receive State public assistance need to identify their status as a CalWORKs recipient in the comments area on the application. Applicants must submit a verification of their CalWORKs eligibility status, which may include the most recent Notice of Action showing TANF eligibility or a copy of your last aid check stub. If verification is not submitted with the application, the application will not be processed. (Applicants may obtain verification from the CalWORKs program).”

The Park Aide reporting location is at Folsom Lake SRA, located at 7755 Folsom-Auburn Road, Folsom, CA 95630. Assignment locations can vary but are contained and or within Folsom Lake State Recreation Area. This position works under the direction of the Gold Fields District Senior Park and Recreation Specialist; assists with the oversight and implementation of the Golden Mussel Inspection and Education Program.

The Park Aide performs the subsequent vessel seal checks, and provides education on quarantines and certifications. The Park Aide will also be responsible for entrance station operations. Duties include, but are not limited to fee collection, revenue accountability, providing visitor information, assisting visitors, campground registration, reservation registration, attendance documentation, traffic control, reporting hazards and park violations, notifying proper authorities in emergencies, and housekeeping.

The Park Aide work shifts are 4 days per week with various shift times and coinciding with park hours. The position may require working holidays and weekends. This position can work 189 days in a 12 consecutive month period or a maximum of 1500 hours within 12 consecutive months per California Code of Regulation 265.1. This position is designated as not telework eligible.

The selected candidate is required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting prior to appointment.

Possession of a valid driver’s license of the appropriate class and a safe driving record as documented by the Department of Motor Vehicles within 60 days prior to appointment. (A safe driving record is one free from convictions in the past two years for repeated moving violations or a single serious violation, such as drunk driving or reckless driving.)
