Job Description and Duties

PARK MAINTENANCE WORKER I (PERMANENT/FULL-TIME) – ORANGE COAST DISTRICT / NORTH SECTOR / HUNTINGTON STATE BEACH

This classification is subject to the Post and Bid process. Applications from a certification list, transfer change in class, reinstatement, re-employment, and training and development assignment candidates will be accepted for this position but consistent with the MOU/Bargaining Agreement BU12/13 contract cannot be acted upon unless the Post & Bid process does not result in a hire.

The work schedule will be 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM Sunday - Thursday.

The reporting location for this position is Huntington State Beach in Huntington Beach, CA. This position will work under the supervision of the Park Maintenance Supervisor.

The Park Maintenance Worker I will perform facility maintenance duties, refuse disposal duties, and maintain the inventory of housekeeping supplies. The Park Maintenance Worker I will be a lead person to Park Maintenance Assistant and Maintenance Aide (Seasonal) employees. Additional duties include participating in facility maintenance projects, operating and maintaining a variety of vehicles, equipment, and tools used in maintenance and housekeeping operations, and performing semi-skilled maintenance as required.

Training and Development Assignments may be considered.

Possession of a valid Class C driver’s license is required. You must answer the questions addressing your driver’s license on your application. Ensure you provide your driver’s license number, class, expiration date, and any endorsements and/or restrictions on your application.

The selected candidate is required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting prior to appointment.

Per California Code of Regulations (CCR) 599.961, this is a sensitive position, and therefore subject to drug and alcohol testing. It should be noted that testing is not mandatory, but is allowed to be conducted only if and when there is a determination of reasonable suspicion as defined in CCR 599.962.

This position is designated as not telework eligible.
