SENIOR PARK AIDE (SEASONAL) – SIERRA DISTRICT / LAKE TAHOE SECTOR


“Priority consideration will be given to any person receiving State public assistance under the CalWORKs program. Applicants who receive State public assistance need to identify their status as a CalWORKs recipient in the comments area on the application. Applicants must submit a verification of their CalWORKs eligibility status, which may include the most recent Notice of Action showing TANF eligibility or a copy of your last aid check stub. If verification is not submitted with the application, the application will not be processed. (Applicants may obtain verification from the CalWORKs program).”

The possible reporting location is Ed Z’berg, Sugar Pine Point State Park in El Dorado County. This position is under the supervision of Administrative Officer I and Supervising State Park Peace Officer (Ranger).

The primary duties of the Senior Park Aide (SPA) are to support the daily Visitor Services operation of the day use and campground operations. Senior Park Aide duties include meeting and greeting the general public while maintaining a positive customer service approach. Act as a lead person to park aides in the revenue program, including training lower-level park aides. Ensure information flow is maintained for an efficient operation include working with the public, staffing park entrance stations, checking in campers, cash handling, providing information to visitors, reporting public safety issues, and answering phone calls from the public.

This position is a seasonal assignment. Must be available holidays and weekends. A uniform is required. Desirable abilities include communicating effectively with co-workers and visitors; multi-tasking in a fast-paced, public contact setting; following directions; good customer service skills; performing arithmetic while handling money; preparing written and computer-generated accounting documents.

Applicants must have at least one year of Park Aide experience or the equivalent and be able to work with direction from supervisor on independent assignments.

This position is seasonal - May/June to September/October. This position may work up to 1500 hours within 12 consecutive months. This position is designated as not telework eligible.

The selected candidate is required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting prior to appointment.


Possession of a valid driver’s license of the appropriate class and a safe driving record as documented by the Department of Motor Vehicles within 60 days prior to appointment. (A safe driving record is one free from convictions in the past two years for repeated moving violations or a single serious violation, such as drunk driving or reckless driving.)

State housing may be required. Special Requirement/Condition of Employment: Depending on the assigned location, the incumbent may be required to occupy state-owned housing to meet operational needs or may be offered state-owned housing if available. Housing assignments will be determined in accordance with Department policy, operational priorities, and applicable labor agreements.
