In July 2025, the State of California implemented the Personal Leave Program (PLP) 2025. This program temporarily reduces employees’ monthly base pay in exchange for paid leave credits. This position is subject to PLP 2025 and will have a monthly base pay reduction of 3% in exchange for 5 hours of leave credits through June 2027. The salary ranges shown on this job posting do not reflect the salary reduction.

Working Conditions

  • Hybrid Telework: This position is eligible for a hybrid telework option, in accordance with CAL FIRE’s telework policy, and will be required to report to the office as needed/required. The successful candidate must reside in California upon appointment.
  • This position requires strong writing and editing skills, to present information logically, clearly, and concisely. Local and Statewide travel may be required up to 5% of the time and may include overnight stays. 5% Emergency Duty Assignments as required.

Special Requirements

Desirable Qualifications

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:
  • Experience using database systems.
  • Experience with development of data analysis and visualization tools.
  • Experience with data QA/QC processes and data cleaning.
  • Familiarity with spatial data, ideally using ArcGIS affiliated software but not required.
  • Familiarity with PowerBI or other business analytics software but not required.
  • Experience presenting findings and recommendations to stakeholders, management, and subject matter experts.
  • Interest and enthusiasm for power systems, safety, and risk modeling.
  • Strong understanding of statistical methodologies and business intelligence software applications with a background in a specific occupational area.
