Job Description and Duties

PARK MAINTENANCE CHIEF III – NORTHERN BUTTES DISTRICT / DISTRICT FACILITIES / OROVILLE, CA

The reporting location for this position is the Northern Buttes District Office located at 400 Glen Drive, Oroville, CA 95966. The Northern Buttes District is seeking a visionary and strategic leader to serve as the District Maintenance Chief (Park Maintenance Chief III). This is a high-level leadership role with district-wide responsibility for overseeing the maintenance operations of one of California's most diverse park districts.

Under the general direction of the Northern Buttes District Superintendent II, you will serve as the primary planner for programmatic development and support for all essential district facility programs. You will have continuous access to sector maintenance operations and interact with sector maintenance chiefs on a routine basis.
Key responsibilities include:
Strategic Leadership: Formulate maintenance program priorities and coordinate complex annual maintenance service projects in accordance with the district operations plan and departmental policies.
Fiscal Stewardship: Manage district-wide budgetary responsibility for ongoing maintenance, deferred maintenance, roads and trails, equipment, and other project-related funds.
Team Management: Directly supervise a specialized team, including the District Auto Shop staff, Heavy Equipment Mechanics, State Park Equipment Operators, and the Water & Plant Treatment Supervisor.
Compliance & Safety: Lead the district’s safety program, including the Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP), and ensure compliance with Water/Wastewater laws and hazardous material handling standards.
Resource Protection: Provide critical input regarding natural, cultural, and historical resources to ensure CEQA compliance in all aspects of maintenance projects.

Training and Development Assignments may be considered.

Possession of a valid Class C driver’s license is required. You must answer the questions addressing your driver’s license on your application. Ensure you provide your driver’s license number, class, expiration date, and any endorsements and/or restrictions on your application.

The selected candidate is required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting prior to appointment.
