PARK MAINTENANCE WORKER I / MONTEREY DISTRICT / MONTEREY SECTOR


The Park Maintenance Worker I is assigned to the Monterey sector maintenance program within the Monterey District and will work under the supervision of the Park Maintenance Chief II and the Park Maintenance Supervisor. The Monterey sector includes many of the Monterey area state beaches from Zmodowski State Beach to Garrapata as well as Point Lobos State Natural Reserve. Although the primary reporting location is the district maintenance shop located at 2211 Garden Road, the position may be required to work at other locations throughout the District as assigned and based on operational need. Primary responsibilities are facilities and equipment maintenance, with emphasis on repair and maintenance of water distribution systems, sewage systems, resource projects, trail projects, historical building repairs, and electrical systems. The position also participates in daily project planning and administration task. The work schedule is expected to be Monday through Thursday from 6:30am - 5:00pm This schedule may changed to meet operational needs.
Training and Development Assignments may be considered. This position is not telework eligible.

Possession of a valid Class C driver’s license is required. You must answer the questions addressing your driver’s license on your application. Ensure you provide your driver’s license number, class, expiration date, and any endorsements and/or restrictions on your application.

Per California Code of Regulations (CCR) 599.961, this is a sensitive position, and therefore subject to drug and alcohol testing. It should be noted that testing is not mandatory, but is allowed to be conducted only if and when there is a determination of reasonable suspicion as defined in CCR 599.962.

The selected candidate is required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting prior to appointment.
State housing may be required. Special Requirement/Condition of Employment: Depending on the assigned location, the incumbent may be required to occupy state-owned housing to meet operational needs, or may be offered state-owned housing if available. Housing assignments will be determined in accordance with Department policy, operational priorities, and applicable labor agreements.

This classification is subject to the Post and Bid process. Applications from a certification list, transfer change in class, reinstatement, re-employment, and training and development assignment candidates will be accepted for this position but consistent with the MOU/Bargaining Agreement BU12/13 contract cannot be acted upon unless the Post & Bid process does not result in a hire.
