Job Description and Duties

STATE PARK INTERPRETER II (LIMITED TERM/FULL -TIME) INTERPRETATION AND EDUCATION / PORTS / SAN DIEGO OR SACRAMENTO

This is a statewide recruitment. The selected candidate can be physically located in Sacramento County or San Diego County and will report to the office that is nearest their residence. This position is part of a distributed team that involves teleworking and reporting to the headquarters office or local state park district offices as needed/required.

This position will work under the supervision of the State Park Interpreter III.
The Parks Online Resources for Teachers and Students (PORTS) Program is hitting the road in a new mobile outreach van to bring California State Park resources to more people than ever before. We're looking for a State Park Interpreter II to perform the more complex administration, coordination, and support tasks of PORTS operations and other funded K-12 & Interpretive Program Enrichment projects in collaboration with Division staff, participating park districts, educational entities, and other partners in California and beyond. This position will focus on coordination and activation of a new mobile outreach van to continue scaling the program and leverage apprioriate tools and channels to meet the growing, complex demands of our audience. Duties will include participating in large scale outreach events, in-person and virtual support of park district staff, creation and delivery of presentations to public audieances, data systems development and analysis, coordinating projects with non-profit support entities and private industry partners, and attending professional development trainings and events. A high degree of travel, use of audio/visual equipment and public speaking will be required to fulfill the goals of the mobile outreach program.

Possession of a valid Class C driver’s license is required. You must answer the questions addressing your driver’s license on your application. Ensure you provide your driver’s license number, class, expiration date, and any endorsements and/or restrictions on your application.

The selected candidate is required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting prior to appointment.

This position is a 12-month Limited-Term position that may be extended and/or become permanent.
