Job Description and Duties

PARK MAINTENANCE WORKER I - NORTH COAST REDWOODS DISTRICT / EEL RIVER SECTOR / HUMBOLDT REDWOODS STATE PARK

This classification is subject to the Post and Bid process. Applications from a certification list, transfer change in class, reinstatement, re-employment, and training and development assignment candidates will be accepted for this position but consistent with the MOU/Bargaining Agreement BU12/13 contract cannot be acted upon unless the Post & Bid process does not result in a hire.

The reporting location for this position is 17119 Ave. of the Giants in Weott, CA 95571. This position will work under the Supervision of the Park Maintenance Supervisor.

The North Coast Redwoods District is recruiting for a Park Maintenance Worker I to join its maintenance force in Humboldt Redwoods State Park. This position will join a highly skilled team of maintenance workers who are responsible for the management of facilities and grounds at Humboldt Redwoods State Park, but may be required to work in other areas in the Eel River Sector including Grizzly Creek State Park, Richardson Grove State Park, Benbow State Recreation Area, and Sinkyone Wilderness State Park. This position has shared responsibility with the other Park Maintenance Worker Is and Skilled Laborers and may be required to work with one or all at any given time.


Training and Development Assignments may be considered.

The selected candidate is required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting prior to appointment.

Possession of a valid Class C driver’s license is required. You must answer the questions addressing your driver’s license on your application. Ensure you provide your driver’s license number, class, expiration date, and any endorsements and/or restrictions on your application.

The incumbent’s work schedule will be Sundays - Thursdays, 7:30am to 4:00pm..

Per California Code of Regulations (CCR) 599.961, this is a sensitive position, and therefore subject to drug and alcohol testing. It should be noted that testing is not mandatory, but is allowed to be conducted only if and when there is a determination of reasonable suspicion as defined in CCR 599.962.

This position is designated as not telework eligible.
