Job Description and Duties

STATE PARK PEACE OFFICER (RANGER/LIFEGUARD) - BU7 MOU / MASS COB INTER-DISTRICT TRANSFER

Open to Department of Parks & Recreation Rank and File officers currently in the classifications and eligible for transfer. Non-SPPO applicants may click here for consideration.


Below, in the section titled "Required Application Documents", download the PDF file named "Position Selection Ballot". Follow the directions below or on page one of the Ballot.

To complete the Position Selection Ballot, identify your selections by number in the order of highest interest, with 1 being most desirable. In order of seniority, the most desirable available selection will be offered to each eligibile candidate.
Only identify the positions you are interested in. See page one of Position Selection Ballot for sample. This document must be included with the application package in CalCareers or the mail-in application package to be accepted.

Direct all questions or requests, including those related to specific duty statements or housing, to the contact listed on the Position Selection Ballot.

Per Bargaining Unit 7 MOU, the department shall select the applicant with the most seniority. Seniority shall be defined as badged time in SPPO (Ranger/Lifeguard) classifications. Employees who are subject to corrective action such as, but not limited to, counseling, interim reporting, or adverse action, may not be eligible for geographic transfer. Applicants must be available for contact for offering of the position after one (1) week after the final filing date. The senior candidate will have forty-eight (48) hours from the time and date of the offer to accept the position. If not accepted during that time, the next senior candidate will be offered the position.
