Working Conditions
- Withthin 6 months of appointment, incumbent is required to have a California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Class A or B commercial driver license with a tank (N) endorsement and no restriction for air brakes or standard transmission. New hires that do not have the passenger (P) endorsement will be able to drive the required vehicles for the purpose of obtaining a passenger endorsement only when an employee with the proper endorsement is present. The P endorsement must be obtained by the end of the six (6) month probationary period.
- This position requires travel up to 10% of the time. This travel may be local or statewide and may result in overnight stays. This travel may increase to 25% of the time during peak fire season.
- Ability to use and operate various tools and lift approximately 25 lbs.

Special Requirements
- The position(s) require(s) a valid California Drivers License (CDL). You must answer the questions addressing your CDL on your application. Ensure you provide your CDL number, class, expiration date, and any endorsements and/or restrictions.
- The position(s) require(s) a Drug Screening be passed prior to being hired.
- The position(s) require(s) a Background Investigation be cleared prior to being hired.
- This position requires Respiratory Protection Program (RPP) Clearance prior to the incumbent being hired.
- Will be required to wear respiratory protection equipment including a self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA). As such, Cal/OSHA requires that the incumbent be annually medically cleared through the Respiratory Protection Program (RPP) to be fit-tested for respiratory protection equipment. This clearance process consists of a comprehensive medical evaluation including a review of the incumbent’s medical history, a complete physical examination, and vision, hearing, spirometry, and exercise treadmill tests. Duties involve field work requiring physical performance calling for above-average ability, endurance, and superior condition, including occasional demand for extraordinarily strenuous activities in emergencies, under adverse environmental conditions, and over extended periods of time; requires running, walking, difficult climbing, jumping, twisting, bending and lifting over 25 pounds; and the pace of work is typically set by the emergency situation.
