Job Description and Duties

PARK MAINTENANCE WORKER I (PERMANENT FULLTIME) – GREAT BASIN DISTRICT / HUNGRY VALLEY SECTOR / HUNGRY VALLEY STATE VEHICULAR RECREATION AREA

This classification is subject to the Post and Bid process. Applications from a certification list, transfer change in class, reinstatement, re-employment, and training and development assignment candidates will be accepted for this position but consistent with the MOU/Bargaining Agreement BU12/13 contract cannot be acted upon unless the Post & Bid process does not result in a hire.

The reporting location for this position is Hungry Valley State Vehicular Recreation Area in Gorman, CA. This position will work under the direct supervision of the Park Maintenance Supervisor.

Park Maintenance Worker I positions are described as permanent, skilled and semi-skilled positions involved in the structural and facilities maintenance function of the State Park system. The essential job functions of these positions include: facilities maintenance, equipment operations, maintenance, resource protection and lead work. This position work occasionally at odd or irregular hours, holidays, and be available for call outs as needed

Employees who work to support State Vehicle Recreation Areas (SVRA) utilize the OHV Trust Fund and are responsible for appropriate use of the fund and to help ensure program transparency, accountability, and compliance (TAC) goals are met.

The incumbent’s work schedule will be Wednesday to Saturday from 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM.

Possession of a valid Class C driver’s license is required. You must answer the questions addressing your driver’s license on your application. Ensure you provide your driver’s license number, class, expiration date, and any endorsements and/or restrictions on your application.

The selected candidate is required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting prior to appointment.

Per California Code of Regulations (CCR) 599.961, this is a sensitive position, and therefore subject to drug and alcohol testing. It should be noted that testing is not mandatory, but is allowed to be conducted only if and when there is a determination of reasonable suspicion as defined in CCR 599.962.

This position is designated as not telework eligible.
