San Bernardino County Fire Protection District is proud to provide residents of San Bernardino County with meaningful volunteer opportunities. Recognizing that community outreach and education, fire prevention, and assistance during disasters and other emergencies are critical to its mission, the SBCoFPD will recruit and train volunteers to integrate with and support various functions and duties.

The Fire Corps Program is a nationally recognized volunteer program administered locally by the San Bernardino County Fire Protection District. Fire Corps volunteers are assigned a wide range of duties within the various Divisions of the Fire District and are supervised by Division coordinators who oversee their responsibilities. Volunteers are expected to properly learn and conduct tasks that will support and augment Fire District staff on a day-to-day basis and potentially during emergency incidents or natural disasters. This allows full-time personnel to focus on operations and training while at the same time increasing capacity for large scale responses and services.

The main focus areas of the Fire Corps program are emergency incident support, public education and outreach, fire prevention and community risk reduction, and administrative support. Some examples of duties include:

  • Conducting rehab operations
  • Videography or photography
  • Educational programs
  • Community events
  • Evacuation shelter support
  • Clerical or office duties
  • Red Flag Warning Patrol
  • Smoke alarm distribution
  • Transport and Logistics
  • Social Media/Graphic Design

This is an at-will Volunteer Program without monetary benefits. The Volunteer may be called upon to assist the county in providing normal or emergency services.
