The Job


San Bernardino County Regional Parks is recruiting for an energetic, creative, and customer-focused Recreation Aide to assist with the planning, development, promotion, and implementation of outdoor recreation programs, community events, and educational activities throughout the Regional Parks system.

Under the direction of Regional Parks staff, the Recreation Aide will:

  • Assist with the research, development, and implementation of recreation activities, programs, and special events.
  • Serve as an instructional guide and support participant engagement during community workshops, outdoor education programs, and camp retreats.
  • Assist in the planning, preparation, and distribution of promotional and marketing materials for programs and events.
  • Provide administrative and operational support to the Recreation Coordinator and other Regional Parks staff.
  • Support event setup, coordination, and on-site operations as needed.

The current vacancy is based at the Regional Parks Administrative Office in San Bernardino. This position will support Regional Parks operations both in the Administrative Office and at park locations throughout the County, assisting with recreation programs, special events, and community engagement activities. Travel to various Regional Parks facilities is required.

The Regional Parks Department manages and maintains nine (9) Regional Parks throughout San Bernardino County totaling approximately 8,000 acres with one (1) Preserve and one (1) Regional Trail. Each park offers diverse outdoor recreation opportunities in settings that range from metropolitan, mountain and desert scenery. Regional Parks offers opportunities for residents and visitors to host events or enjoy the beauty offered by the County’s natural and cultural resources. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Pre-Employment Process: Incumbents must pass a background investigation, which includes fingerprinting, work history verification, as well as a job-related physical exam and drug screening.

Availability: Employees are required to work weekends as well as holidays.
Physical: This position requires frequent lifting, carrying, and moving of items weighing up to 60 pounds as well as walking, standing, kneeling, stooping, and climbing on uneven surfaces. Employees work outdoors year-round often under extreme weather conditions.
Travel/License: Travel throughout the County is required. A valid California Class C driver license and proof of automobile liability insurance are required by the employee at the time of appointment and must be maintained throughout employment.
Sponsorship: San Bernardino County is unable to consider candidates who require Visa Sponsorship at this time or in the future. Candidates must be able to present their legal right to work in the United States at the time of employment.

Minimum Requirements

Experience: Six (6) months of full-time equivalent experience (paid or volunteer) in a customer service environment or recreation, education, or resort/hospitality setting which includes in-person contact with the general public.

The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated individual with excellent communication skills, strong work ethic, and cash handling experience.
