THIS IS A FIRE DISTRICT POSITION ONLY


San Bernardino County Fire Protection District is seeking a Chief Financial Officer to provide administrative direction, and to manage and coordinate the fiscal operations and activities of the County Fire District. The Chief Financial Officer is responsible for the district budget and preparation of the budget package, and ensuring compliance with laws, codes, regulations, GAAP and GASB standards. In addition, responsibilities include overseeing the division functions of accounting, budget and cost controls, accounts payable/receivable and billing/collection processes, payroll processes, and purchasing activities through subordinate supervisors. Additional responsibilities include economic forecasting and development of short and long term financial plans, and cash-flow projections; oversees analysis of revenue and expenditure projections, capital projects and financial resources management.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Background: A successful background check is required prior to assignment.
Travel: Travel throughout the County may be required and employees will be required to make provisions for such transportation.

Minimum Requirements

EDUCATION: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in finance, economics, accounting or public/business administration, or other relevant field.

--- AND ---

EXPERIENCE: Five (5) years of professional-level governmental accounting and finance experience with administrative oversight for financial analysis, budget management, or debt administration and which includes primary responsibility for advising management on budgetary and financial strategies and development of financial plans; must include at least two (2) or more years of supervision over finance staff.

Applicants with an equivalent combination of education and experience commensurate with the responsibilities of the position may be considered.

Note: Qualifying degrees or coursework must be completed at a college or university accredited by any accrediting association recognized by the United States Department of Education. Degrees or coursework completed outside the U.S. must be accompanied with an evaluation report from a reputable credential evaluation service showing equivalency to degrees or coursework completed at a college or university accredited by any accrediting association recognized by the United States Department of Education. Desired Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a related Master's Degree, along with extensive experience in governmental accounting, cost accounting, and development and administration of a department-wide budget. Seven (7) years of professional-level accounting and/or budget experience is desired.
