Facilities Management is seeking an experienced Facilities Operations Supervisor to plan, supervise, and coordinate assigned operational and maintenance activities across San Bernardino County Facilities. The successful candidate will have a proven record of leadership, technical expertise in building operations and strong knowledge of contract administration and procurement procedures.
Typical duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Assist in preparing and monitoring section budgets; evaluate staffing, equipment, and supply needs.
- Obtain and review vendor proposals; evaluate equipment, products, and services; prepare, review, and award purchasing bids in accordance with County procurement guidelines and Public Contract Code (PCC).
- Develop and implement performance standards, work schedules, and operational procedures for facilities and custodial services.
- Review and manage custodial contracts, ensuring service levels are met and corrective actions are implemented as needed.
- Direct the ordering and inventory of supplies, including custodial and maintenance-related items.
- Responsible for personnel management, including hiring recommendations, staff evaluations, scheduling, approving time off, and addressing disciplinary matters.
- Represent the department by providing information and technical guidance to other County departments, outside agencies, and the public.
- Prepare and maintain reports, correspondence, records, and other operational documents.
- Utilize computer systems (including Outlook and County software applications) for scheduling, contract management, and reporting functions
- Assists in the preparation of the section budget and monitors expenditures; identifies equipment, staffing, and supply needs
- Oversees personnel and functions of the department's zone maintenance; monitors work orders; processes invoices for parts and services.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENTPre-Employment Process: Incumbents must pass a background investigation, which includes fingerprinting, work history verification, as well as a job-related physical exam and drug screening.
Physical: This position requires bending, kneeling, grasping, reaching above and below shoulder, sitting, standing, stopping, and twisting. It also involves frequent walking on various terrain, including rough, uneven, rocky, or slippery surfaces. Incumbents will occasionally need to lift up to fifty (50) lbs. This position also requires the ability to see clearly at distances over twenty (20) feet (corrected vision is acceptable), and the ability to identify and distinguish colors.
Location: Position reports to San Bernardino. Will travel throughout the County to visit various project locations and County sites.
Travel: Travel throughout the County is required. A work vehicle is provided for transportation during working hours. A valid California Class C driver's license and proof of automobile liability insurance must be maintained for the individual providing the transportation. Incumbents may also be required to travel for training/learning purposes.Sponsorship: Please note San Bernardino County is not able to consider candidates who will require visa sponsorship at the time of application or in the future. - REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: Four (4) years of professional experience supervising or managing custodial, facilities, maintenance operations in an organization such as a government or public agency, industrial facility, healthcare facility, retail establishment, school, detention facility, office building or similar environment. Experience must include performing supervisory tasks such as assigning and reviewing work, approving schedules and leave requests, conducting performance evaluations and administering discipline.

The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge of custodial and maintenance operation, contract compliance and safety procedures.
