Arrowhead Regional Medical Center is recruiting for Dialysis Technicians who assist physicians and licensed nurses in the preparation, monitoring, and care of patients receiving dialysis treatments. Incumbents are responsible for initiating and discontinuing dialysis treatments, preparing patients for hemodialysis, and performing routine data collection while promptly reporting findings and any unusual patient conditions to licensed staff. Additional duties include cleaning, operating, and maintaining dialysis machines to ensure safe, effective, and high-quality patient care.

Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Performs direct patient care and assists physicians and nurses with procedures as needed.
  • Prepares dialysis machine system to include dismantling of dialysis set up, cleaning and disinfection of machine and water system.
  • Prepares patients for hemodialysis treatment, performs data collection and reports findings to licensed nurse; observes patients and reports unusual conditions to licensed nurse. Initiates and discontinues dialysis treatments.
  • Inspects access site and reports status to a licensed nurse; performs cannulation of peripheral access sites (arterial-venous fistulas and arterial-venous graphs) to initiate dialysis.
  • Observes patient before, during and after dialysis procedure; ensures patient safety and advises licensed nurse of changes in patient condition.
  • Obtains blood specimens and administers medications associated with dialysis treatments in accordance with physician orders and established guidelines and policies and procedures.
  • Operates dialysis machine during patient treatments as directed by physician orders, including dialysis equipment settings; makes appropriate adjustments during treatment such as blood flow and fluid removal rates.
  • Maintains required documentation and treatment records.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification, and possession of a valid Hemodialysis Technician certification from a state certification program or a National certification program such as Certified Clinical Hemodialysis Technician (CCHT).
Shift Availability: ARMC is a twenty-four hour(24) facility; applicants must indicate their shift availability in the Supplemental Questionnaire of the application. Shift differentials are provided.
Pre-Employment Process: Applicants selected for these positions must pass a background investigation, physical and verification of employment history and education.

Sponsorship: San Bernardino County is not able to consider candidates who will require visa sponsorship at the time of application or in the future.

Minimum Requirements

Candidates must possess both of the following Certifications:

CERTIFICATION #1: Must possess a valid Hemodialysis Technician certification from a State certification program or a National certification program, such as Certified Clinical Hemodialysis Technician (CCHT).

-AND-

CERTIFICATION #2: A valid Healthcare Provider Level Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.

Desired Qualifications

Applicants fluent in American Sign Language, Arabic, Korean, Mandarin, Spanish and/or Vietnamese are strongly encouraged to apply. Additional compensation is associated with positions requiring the use of bilingual skills. Testing of bilingual skills may be required to receive additional compensation.
