The Job
- Network Support Analysts - Enterprise Network Operations* have the knowledge and expertise to support the countywide Area Networks and Local Area Networks for the Innovation and Technology Department. This position assumes a countywide role for knowledge in routing, switching, carrier networks, and performing best practices in meeting specific network design goals. The position is responsible for configuring, installing, and supporting enterprise class networking hardware, software, and other networking resources, troubleshooting performance and security issues, while using the latest networking diagnostics tools.
Network Support Analysts are subject matter experts at:- Resolving TCP IP, and subnetting issues
- Deploying network solutions
- Assisting in evaluating and testing new technologies
- Traffic monitoring, capacity planning, and use of management tools
- Assisting other IT groups with application troubleshooting and providing recommendations for improvement of application network operation
- Deploying and maintaining enterprise level wireless network equipment.

Availability: Incumbents may occasionally work evening and weekend hours. Some overtime, on-call, or call back work may be required.

- REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: Two (2) years of work experience, within the last five (5) years, working with or troubleshooting enterprise class networks, which includes experience with configuring switches and/or routers.Must include experience in at least two of the following system technologies:
- Network Architecture (Ethernet Circuits, Local Area Networks, etc)
- Wireless Network Platforms (Wireless Access Points, etc)
- Network Router and Switch Platforms (Cisco Catalyst, ISR, Nexus, etc)
- Routing Protocols (Static, EIGRP, etc)
-AND-REQUIRED EDUCATION: Thirty (30) semester (45 quarter) units of completed, post high-school coursework from an accredited university or technical school in computer science, or a closely related field. A list of coursework must be submitted with the application.Education Substitution: One (1) additional year of qualifying work experience may substitute for the education requirement. Desired Qualifications
- The ideal candidate will have the following:
- Experience configuring and installing Cisco and Aruba Equipment
- Ability to analyze complex network systems to troubleshoot problems and make improvements
- Work well in a collaborative team environment
- Be able to work on multiple projects and assignment at the same time in an organized manner
- Interconnecting Cisco Networking Devices (ICND1) certification
- Cisco Certified Support Technician (CCST) Networking certification
