The San Bernardino County Fire Protection District is recruiting for a Fire Equipment Specialist who performs a variety of acquisition and warehousing duties, while functioning as a lead worker. Fire Equipment Specialists oversee and give direction to workers who are responsible for purchasing, receiving, warehousing, issuing, and inventorying fire equipment, materials, and supplies, as well as making minor equipment repairs, sanitizing uniforms, and providing logistical support to fire incidents.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENTPre-Employment Process: Must successfully complete a background check prior to appointment.License: A valid California Class C Driver License is required to carry out the essential job-related functions of this position. Proof of automobile liability insurance must be maintained. May be required to obtain a CA Class B driver license, depending on assignment. Mileage reimbursement is available.Sponsorship: Please note San Bernardino County is not able to consider candidates who will require visa sponsorship at the time of application or in the future.
Certification: Must obtain a valid California Incident Command Certification System Qualification Card (CICCS Red Card) verifying completion of S-130, S-190, and I-200 training courses (provided by the department) within twelve (12) months of hire and maintain throughout employment.
Physical: Must be able to lift a minimum of fifty (50) lbs.; frequent sitting, walking, standing, and bending.
Work Hours: Will be required to work on-call as needed in order to provide assistance to incidents and other events after hours and weekends. Minimum Requirements
- Required Experience: Two (2) years of experience in a warehouse environment with primary responsibility for researching products, gathering price quotes, ordering supplies/equipment, AND receiving, storing, issuing, and inventorying supplies and materials.
NOTE: Ensure your work history clearly details qualifying experience, including your experience in receiving, inspecting, storing, and issuing uniforms, equipment, and supplies; experience inspecting and repairing fire equipment; specific purchasing duties; experience with a computerized inventory and purchasing system; and the computer programs/software you utilize to perform your related duties. The ideal candidate will have experience in a Fire District, as well as researching, ordering, and issuing Fire District equipment utilizing a computerized inventory system. Experience working with ordering uniforms, public safety equipment, and medical supplies, and working in a centralized purchasing environment, is also desirable.
