The Department of Public Health, Environmental Health Division, is recruiting for Vector Control Technicians I who perform technical duties in identifying, abating and suppressing vectors. Duties include the following: determine the extent of mosquito and other arthropod breeding and recommend appropriate physical and chemical abatement methods; inspect residences, water runoff sites, poultry ranches and other sites for vector infestation; select and monitor progress of rodent control programs.

Physical Requirements: Duties may involve leveraging approximately one hundred (100) pounds; lifting up to fifty (50) pounds; bending, stooping, and kneeling; working with hazardous materials and poisons.
License: A valid California Class C Driver License is required to carry out the essential job-related functions of this position. Mileage reimbursement and proof of automobile liability insurance must be maintained.Pre-Employment Process: Prior to appointment, applicants must pass a background investigation which includes verification of employment history and education, fingerprinting, physical exam, and drug screening.Visa Sponsorship: Please note San Bernardino County is not able to consider candidates who will require visa sponsorship at the time of application or in the future. - Certificates: Must possess and maintain certificates as a Vector Control Technician in all of the following areas:
- Category B - Mosquito Control,
- Category C - Terrestrial Vector Control, and
- Category D - Vertebrate Vector Control.
NOTE: Certificates must have been issued by the State of California Department of Public Health (CDPH). Legible copies of Vector certificates or Gold Card must be submitted with the application. Desired Qualifications
- Experience enforcing vector related regulations is highly desirable.
