THIS IS A FIRE DISTRICT POSITION ONLY

The San Bernardino County Fire Protection District, Office of the Fire Marshal is recruiting for a Front Counter Technician who, under the general direction of the Assistant Fire Marshal, is responsible for issuing Fire Prevention permits; receiving and scheduling requests for inspections; and assisting customers with application, permit and technical questions and concerns. Additional duties include calculating and collecting permit and plan check fees; evaluating and verifying all required submittals; maintaining accurate computer records on various permits; and researching and compiling data.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Pre-Employment Process: A successful background check is required prior to assignment.
Travel: Travel to other office locations may be required. A valid California driver license and proof of automobile liability insurance must be provided at time of hire and maintained throughout employment.
Work Hours: May occasionally require working overtime, weekends, and/or holidays for special events.
Sponsorship: San Bernardino County is not able to consider candidates who will require visa sponsorship at the time of application or in the future.

Minimum Requirements

Experience:
Two (2) years of full-time clerical experience including reviewing forms and applications, performing data entry and records management using automated systems, calculating and invoicing fees, scheduling, with an emphasis on customer service responsibilities and public contact.

Desired Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess experience in processing fire, building, or other construction related permit applications, as well as excellent customer service and organizational skills demonstrated in a fast-paced environment. Possession of related CA State Fire Marshal and International Code Council course certificates are also desired.
