Summary

Provide engineering services as a project/program leader in transmission planning, strategy, and development, in a technically sound, safe, timely, and cost effective manner to enable SRP to realize its goals and objectives for providing water and energy related services.

What You'll Do

• Perform core transmission planning functions such as powerflow, transient, post transient, and short circuit analyses utilizing planning tools, such as PSLF, PowerWorld, ASPEN OneLiner, and TARA. EMT analysis is also preferred.

• Function as a subject matter expert on all core transmission planning concepts and work, and, when required, be the project lead on large or complex projects, such as Integrated System Planning.

• Evaluate and develop strategic transmission plans to meet SRP's goals and objectives.

• Document the results of all analyses performed, provide updates to management, and present and train on study results as required.

• Provide mentorship and training to less experienced engineers. Ensure technical accuracy of the work products of the group by reviewing and providing feedback on the technical work of others in the group or of consultants.

• Actively participate in industry committees and tasks forces as a representative of SRP.

• Actively participate in research projects and evaluating new technologies that drive "change the business".

Education

Completion of a bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET accredited curriculum, an International Engineering Alliance (IEA) recognized institution, ABET Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA) or any state or internationally recognized PE registration.

Experience

Minimum 10 years of professional experience actively engaged in engineering practice is required. • Must have demonstrated the successful accomplishment of work as defined for this position • Contributed to the authoring, publishing and or presenting of internal or external technical papers

• Strong power engineering background and minimum five years transmission planning experience preferred.

• Knowledge and direction of the application of industry technical committee results for improved system modeling and analyses.

• Complex problem solving skills for power systems and the ability to advocate on SRP's behalf in public and industry forums.

• Engage in university and industry research efforts in topics related to transmission planning.

• Responsible for budgets, schedules, and management of resources for programs and projects of major scope.

• Occasional travel to suppliers' facilities, industry functions, and SRP facilities.

• Ability to work effectively with various organizations within SRP.

• Ability to use engineering tools required for the job.

Testing and Certifications

Must possess the appropriate valid Arizona driver’s license.

Hybrid Workplace

SRP currently offers a hybrid workplace, which allows employees whose jobs can be performed remotely, and who have sufficient technical capability, to telework up to three days per week. Although teleworking is available, all employees must live and work in Arizona.
