Job Brief
Provide engineering services in Generation Engineering supporting the operation of renewable power generating facilities, lead and execute engineering studies, provide data to resource planning and market trading departments, and works with other groups in and out of the company to facilitate SRP’s transition to a low-carbon, high-renewable future.
Job Responsibilities
• Provides engineering support for projects related to renewable energy sources and energy storage technologies
• Performs as staff consultant and/or advisor for operations and maintenance of renewable power generating facilities
• Participants in and provides feedback for other projects at SRP as a representative for renewable power generation
• Provides engineering support for renewable power generating facility capital and O&M budget planning process
• Prepares project/study specifications, issues and evaluates request for proposals, and oversees work performed by consultants
• Provides feedback for long term asset lifecycle planning
• Collaborates with research organizations such as EPRI and universities on projects
• Maintains relationships and collaborates with vendors and consultants
• Writes reports and memos and prepares presentations to distribute to team members and management
• Serves on industry committees and task forces as a representative of SRP
• Provides written or oral recommendations to management as requested
• Utilizes Excel, MS Office, Python, PI, and other tools as needed to complete work
• Performs all other work as assigned
Education
Experience
Five (5) years full time experience actively engaged in engineering practice. Must have demonstrated the successful accomplishment of work of the nature defined for the job of Senior Engineer.
Promotion to Level 2 requires a minimum of two years of experience at Level 1; demonstrated capability to perform advanced and more difficult work as determined by the supervisor. Promotion to Senior Level requires a minimum of three years of experience at Level 2; is fully competent in all aspects of functional area of assignment and as such would be recognized as a specialist in area of assignment and may have periodic or occasional lead responsibilities.
Additional Information
Background and Work Experience
- Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial engineering degree preferred
- Work experience with renewable power generation facilities or other similar industrial processes
Technical Knowledge Base and Skillsets
Ability to use software tools required for the job
- Microsoft Office suite of applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
- Python, Excel VBA, or similar programming languages
- AVEVA PI, especially PI Vision, Asset framework, and DataLink
- Other tools as needed
Understanding of engineering fundamentals related to power plants and this role
- Experience with renewable energy and energy storage technologies
- Familiarity with operations and maintenance of renewable energy and energy storage technologies
- Familiarity with development, design, procurement, and implementation of renewable energy and energy storage technologies
- Familiarity with commissioning, acceptance testing, and capacity testing of renewable energy and energy storage technologies
- Other engineering fundamentals as needed

- Ability to collaborate across many different organizations and disciplines within a company
- Collaborate well with other team members
Travel Requirements
- Occasional travel for EPRI meetings, industry organization functions, conferences and training
- Travel to SRP facilities and power plants as required to support projects and maintain relationships
Most possess the appropriate valid drivers license.
Hybrid Workplace
SRP currently offers a hybrid workplace, which allows employees whose jobs can be performed remotely, and who have sufficient technical capability, to telework up to three days per week. Although teleworking is available, all employees must live and work in Arizona.
