Summary

Provides network engineering services in support of SRP's various Information Technology (IT) and/or Operational Technology (OT) networks and systems. These networks and systems include support for Local Area Networks (LANs), Wide Area Networks (WANs), Field Area Networks (FANs), and radio systems. Successful design, construction, maintenance and operation of these networks and systems is critical in supporting SRP's mission of providing sustainable, reliable and affordable water and energy.

What You'll Do

  • Performs as a leader/engineer and is responsible for planning, scheduling and monitoring projects
  • Prepares specifications and bids associated with networks and systems.
  • Performs network engineering design, configuration, studies and analysis.
  • Identifies trends and root causes of challenges, determines solutions, and makes recommendations for management consideration
  • Establishes and applies policies, procedures, and standards to deliver safe, secure, reliable and efficient solutions.
  • Prepares recommendation material for management consideration.
  • Administers and reviews work performed by consultants and others.
  • Prepares and/or conducts written and oral reports and presentations.
  • Supports the full lifecycle of network equipment and systems.
  • Works collaboratively with all stakeholders in the best interest of SRP.

Education

A bachelor's degree relevant to the assignment from an accredited institution is preferred.

Experience

This position may be filled at one of three levels outlined below, based on the candidate’s relevant education, experience, or a combination of both that demonstrates the required knowledge, skills, and competencies. Level I — Associate: In lieu of a degree, 4 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience totaling 4 years may be considered. Level 2 – Journey: Minimum 2 years of relevant experience required. In lieu of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience totaling 6 years may be considered. Level 3 – Senior: Minimum 5 years of relevant experience required. In lieu of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience totaling 9 years may be considered. Eligibility for advancement (progression) to the next level in the same role is based on overall job performance, mastery of all functional responsibilities, and time in position, as assessed by the supervisor.

Additional Requirements and Qualifications

Network Specific Knowledge and Skills:

  • Knowledge of network routing, switching, communications protocols, OSI model and experience in designing, deploying and supporting an enterprise network
  • Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems in a time-critical environment and to work simultaneously on a variety of tasks with varying degrees of complexity


Position requires:

  • Excellent teamwork, communications and customer service skills
  • Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Proven communication skills; including the ability to write clearly and succinctly in a variety of communication settings and styles
  • Demonstrated leadership, teamwork, and customer service skills are essential
  • Knowledge and understanding of SRP's business units is desired
  • Experience in multiple areas of networking technology including routers, switches, firewalls, proxy, and network security and is preferred
  • Experience with network performance monitoring and troubleshooting tools is desirable
  • Experience with network access control (NAC) technologies is desirable

Hybrid Workplace

SRP currently offers a hybrid workplace, which allows employees whose jobs can be performed remotely, and who have sufficient technical capability, to telework up to three days per week. Although teleworking is available, all employees must live and work in Arizona.
