Summary

Provide strategic and operational leadership for SRP’s Protection, Automation, and Control (PAC) compliance program to ensure full adherence to all applicable NERC Operations & Planning (O&P) and Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) Standards. This position oversees compliance governance, internal controls, evidence management, and continuous improvement efforts. The manager directs staff in the development and maintenance of PAC standard design documents, configuration files, and processes, and works closely with SRP’s Electric Reliability Compliance (ERC) department and PAC stakeholders. This role is essential to sustaining SRP’s culture of reliability, security, transparency, and regulatory excellence.

What You'll Do

  • Serve as the PAC Responsible Department (RD) manager in coordination with SRP’s ERC department.
  • Lead the PAC Compliance & Standards team responsible for coordinating and maintaining SRP’s PAC compliance program, including planning, milestones, reporting, and audit readiness.
  • Direct the development, implementation, and maintenance of internal controls, governance processes, and documentation required to demonstrate compliance with NERC O&P and CIP Standards.
  • Ensure PAC processes, controls, and evidence meet the highest standards of quality, accuracy, and regulatory integrity.
  • Oversee internal compliance reviews, mock audits, and best-practice assessments to identify gaps and drive continuous improvement.
  • Lead staff in providing expert guidance to PAC groups and personnel on compliance issues, regulatory changes, and risk‑mitigation strategies.
  • Interpret and communicate NERC O&P and CIP Standards to ensure consistent understanding and application across PAC teams.
  • Mentor and develop PAC personnel to strengthen organizational compliance capabilities.
  • Monitor activities and rulemaking from FERC, NERC, and WECC to maintain proactive awareness and a forward‑looking compliance posture.
  • Analyze regulatory changes and assess their impact on SRP’s PAC compliance program.
  • Represent SRP PAC in external industry groups such as WECC, NATF, and other compliance forums to influence best practices and maintain strong external relationships.
  • Collaborate closely with PAC groups and other business units to ensure alignment and consistency in compliance deliverables.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders to integrate compliance initiatives into PAC planning, design, implementation, maintenance, and operations.
  • Direct staff in the development and maintenance of PAC standard design documents, configuration files, and processes.
  • Oversee staff responsible for the development and management of the PAC life‑cycle asset replacement program in coordination with PAC stakeholders.
  • Provide clear communication, executive summaries, risk assessments, and status reporting to PAC leadership and stakeholders.
  • Champion a culture of accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement in all compliance and standards‑related activities.
    Perform other duties as assigned.

Education

A bachelor's degree relevant to the assignment from an accredited institution is preferred.

Experience

A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience is preferred. In lieu of a bachelor’s degree, 11 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience totaling 11 years may be considered.

Additional Requirements and Qualifications

  • Knowledge of FERC, NERC, and WECC regulatory organizations and standards.
  • Deep understanding of electric power systems, with emphasis on protection, automation, and control.
  • Demonstrated experience with NERC O&P or CIP compliance programs, including standards assessment and applicability, compliance controls, evidence management, audit response, and training programs.
  • Familiarity with information technology infrastructure, architecture, applications, systems, processes, or security.
  • Demonstrated ability to build, develop, and lead high‑performing teams.
  • Interpersonal and collaboration skills with the ability to influence across PAC and other SRP business units.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain complex regulatory concepts.
  • Project and staff management skills with the ability to prioritize, plan, and execute work efficiently.
  • Proven problem‑solving and sound decision‑making abilities grounded in risk awareness and compliance principles.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement of both technical and leadership competencies.

Hybrid Workplace

SRP currently offers a hybrid workplace, which allows employees whose jobs can be performed remotely, and who have sufficient technical capability, to telework up to three days per week. Although teleworking is available, all employees must live and work in Arizona.
