Summary

Support the safe, efficient and cost effective production of electric energy by performing various generating station maintenance and operation tasks.

Any one position may not include all duties nor do the example of duties include all tasks, which may be found in the position of this class.

What You'll Do

  • Basic carpentry and layout work.
  • Operates forklifts and hoists
  • Performs necessary rigging in connection with assigned duties.
  • Performs basic routine Mechanical Maintenance, Power Plant Water Treatment, fuel/ash handling and scrubber operation.
  • Employees may be required to perform train track maintenance.
  • Ensures proper handling of chemicals and waste according to rules and regulations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Performs routines maintenance and operations duties or all generating facilities.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Employee must work safely and efficiently in the performance of their job duties. Must maintain effective working relationships with other employees, customers and the public. Must have the ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions, and have the ability to accurately and legibly complete applicable paper work. May be required to work a reasonable amount of overtime.

What It Takes To Succeed

Be at least 18 years of age.

Occupation Code 5882 (VAL) or 5884 (CGS/NGS) (beginning). Successful completion of O&M Specialist 1 Progressionary Training Objectives. Successful completion of O&M 1 school.

Occupation code 5883 (VAL) or 5885 (CGS/NGS) (Training Complete). Successful completion of O&M Specialist Progressionary Training Objectives or equivalent skills and knowledge.

Education

High School, GED or Equivalent.

Testing and Certifications

Must possess the appropriate valid Arizona driver’s license.
Physical Agility Test
O&M Test
