Job Title: Wildfire Mitigation Specialist. Location: Los Angeles, CA. Type: Full-Time, Flexible Hours, On-Call Availability. Salary: $75,000 – $95,000 annually, plus additional compensation opportunities including on-call duty stipends, incident overtime, and special assignment bonuses. Role Overview: For more than 2 decades, RedZone has been transforming the way that the insurance industry understands wildfire, helping leading insurance and reinsurance companies build strategies, model portfolio impact, assess risk, and protect assets from active wildfires. RedZone is seeking a dynamic, tech-savvy, and adaptable professional to join our team as a Wildfire Mitigation Specialist. This role combines elements of field operations and emergency response, fire knowledge, physical labor, risk mitigation, and safety through interagency coordination and detailed reporting. Requirements: Three (3) years of firefighting experience with a municipal, county or federal fire agency; Prior successful completion of NWCG annual fire safety training with physical fitness Pack Test; Possession of state and federal certification (or willingness to complete): ICS 100, ICS 200, S-110, S-130, S-190, S-212, S-215; Valid driver’s license with a clean record; Strong written and verbal communication skills; Professional appearance and ability to clearly communicate with homeowners and RedZone’s customers. Desirable Skills: Working knowledge of driver safety of a type 6 fire engine or equivalent; Up-to-date knowledge of home inspection techniques; Prevention; Certified Wildfire Mitigation Specialist Certification (NFPA). Ability To: Safely and effectively perform wildfire prevention, mitigation, response, outreach, and reporting duties; Respond to in-state and out-of-state emergency incidents, including initial attack operations and multi-day deployments; Work 10-hour shifts with flexibility for extended hours in all weather conditions; Operate and maintain firefighting tools and equipment (Pulaskis, chainsaws, radios, GPS units, mobile reporting apps); Perform physically demanding tasks under extreme conditions and lift up to 50 pounds; Receive ongoing training and follow directives from Field Supervisors and Incident Liaisons; Accurately complete property assessments and incident reports using a mobile app; Communicate clearly and contribute to a team environment; Maintain regular, reliable attendance and willingness to travel up to two weeks at a time throughout the year.
