Job Title: Foreman - Chemical Spray

Location: Oregon City Operations Center

Pay: $53.23/hour

Hours: Day Shift

It is recognized that the Company is engaged in a public service requiring continuous operation, and it is agreed that recognition of such an obligation of continuous service is imposed upon both the Company and the Union.

Plan and supervise the safe and cost-effective mixing, transporting and application of herbicides used in PGE’s vegetation management program in substations, generating plants, and company owned properties.

DUTIES: (Essential Job Responsibilities)

• Work safely
• Plan and supervise the safe and accurate mixing and application of various types of herbicides at company owned facilities throughout Oregon.
• Accurate and timely performance of all documentation necessary to complete tasks: time entry, records of applications, labeling of containers, spray logs.
• Understand and assure the proper use, care and inventory of company vehicle, equipment and tools assigned.
• Calibrate and maintain equipment appropriately to establish proper application rates.
• Inspect, observe and plan equipment maintenance for proper function.
• Read, understand and interpret documents such as chemical labels, MSDS, Department of Agriculture materials/correspondence
• Train and evaluate Chemical Spray Truck Driver capabilities so driver can assist during peak season work load, and during PTO.
• Keep chemical storage room organized and clean.
• Ensure product containers are handled and disposed of as required.

QUALIFICATIONS: (Knowledge/Skills/Experience Required)

• Three to five years of previous experience with the application of pesticides is preferred. Consistent development of technical skills and product knowledge
• Must possess and maintain a valid CDL driver’s license.
• Must be knowledgeable about the characteristics of pesticides, methods of application, timing and precautions in using pesticides, and the laws regulating their application.
• Possess the Oregon State public pesticide applicator’s license.
• Required to attend Oregon Department of Agriculture approved pesticide recertification courses to keep applicator’s license current.
• Read and comprehend technical pesticide labels on mixing, transporting and using pesticide products.
• Should be mechanically adept in order to make minor adjustments to the equipment in the field.
• Ability to communicate well with other employees, customers and the general public to explain the necessity and purpose of safe chemical applications.

The position for which you are applying is covered under the Department of Transportation and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration regulations as defined in 49 CFR Part 40 and 49 CFR Parts 380, 390 and 391 which became effective on October 29, 2004. If you have been employed by PGE for less than 3 years, once you submit your Bid, you will receive a Supplemental Application form. The information you provide on the form related to the names and addresses of your previous employers during the preceding 3 years, dates of employment, reasons for leaving employment, whether you were subject to FMCSA while employed, whether your job was designated as a safety sensitive function in any DOT mode, may be used and your previous employers may be contacted.

During the probationary period following reassignment to any job, at least two progress reports will be completed. These reports will be discussed with the employee by his/her immediate supervisor, and copies of each will be given to him/her.

Salary Range:

$53.23 - $53.23

Starting pay is listed in the job posting above. Salary range determined by the current collective bargaining agreement and may include step increases based on time in the position.
