About Overwatch Imaging

Overwatch Imaging is an imagery intelligence technology company working to bring sensor autonomy to time-critical airborne search, detection, tracking and monitoring missions. Our Automated Sensor Operator (ASO) software, native to our own line of purpose-built Smart Sensors and as an upgrade for airborne video gimbal platforms, brings Superhuman Vision and Workload Reduction to users of real-time imagery intelligence systems. We fundamentally believe that modern edge processing and AI-enabled autonomy can perform an important set of time-critical imagery intelligence missions better, faster and more safely than humans can alone.

Founded in 2016 in Hood River, Oregon, we support private sector companies as well as federal, state and local agencies around the world with missions ranging from wildfire mapping and disaster response to law enforcement, border security, maritime domain awareness and tactical intelligence.

About this Role:

Overwatch Imaging is seeking a highly motivated full-time Operations Associate to help manage our growing business and keep our team organized, focused, and aligned. This is a generalist role and you will be exposed to the inner workings of an early-stage defense-tech startup.

This role is aimed at those who want to join a fast-paced startup near the ground level and help to build it into a billion dollar business. As a deep tech startup, we expect you to draw from your individual and collective experience to implement innovative solutions and iterate based on direct feedback and intuition about company and office needs. You will report to the Operations Manager and work on-site in Hood River out of our headquarters.

The ideal candidate will be able to learn quickly, is highly detail-oriented, and takes pride in the quality of their work. Additionally, they should be fascinated by the ins and outs of the imaging and artificial intelligence industry — while previous industry experience is not required, enthusiasm for the field is, because you’ll be learning a ton and we believe that passion about our domain drives excellence.

What You’ll Do:

Office Operations

  • Manage Overwatch HQ as the first point of contact for visitors and employees
  • Purchase and manage office equipment and hospitality supplies, including food, beverages, gifts, and branded items
  • Process all incoming and outgoing mail and direct to appropriate departments or external business operations providers
  • Develop and maintain company-wide shared calendars with events, customer visits, staff travel, important dates, and key milestones
  • Coordinate facility maintenance and improvements to support Overwatch’s growth

People Operations

  • Screen and score inbound resumes against defined criteria, maintain applicant tracking records and coordinate with hiring managers
  • Conduct screening calls with qualified applicants and schedule interviews
  • Facilitate new employee onboarding and coordinate training schedule
  • Coordinate benefits administration, paid leave programs, time tracking, and personnel records in conjunction with our HR contractor
  • Prepare and distribute annual compliance notices to employees
  • Lead quarterly Safety Committee meetings, propose safety initiatives, and coordinate risk management plans
  • Plan and execute employee events in conjunction with the leadership team

Project Coordination

  • Collaborate with Executive team, Information Systems Manager, Marketing Manager, and Program Managers to coordinate cross-functional projects
  • Develop action items, delegate tasks, and coordinate communication across teams to ensure deadlines and dependencies are met
  • Track progress, identify risks and blockers, and escalate issues when needed
  • Manage project documentation, updates, and reporting to stakeholders
  • Continuously improve processes, workflows, and efficiency based on project outcomes

What You’ll Bring:

  • Experience: This role is aimed at those with at least 3 years of relevant experience, but we’re flexible on what that experience might look like. This role would be a great fit for a recent college grad with some customer-facing work or volunteer experience. Additionally, we're open to non-college graduates or those who have more experience who are looking to reenter the workforce or make a career change into the technology sector.
  • Technology: Familiarity with the MS office suite and standard email, calendar, file saving and sharing practices. Ability to learn new tools and technologies. You don’t have to be an engineer, but we are a tech company and we do use a lot of software. We’re looking for you to research and recommend new platforms for various functions, and adapt to the technologies we already use.
  • Professionalism: Respectful and clear communication over email, phone calls, and in person. You should be comfortable and capable of cold-calling leads, negotiating with vendors over email, and chatting with office visitors.
  • Discipline: In this role, the CEO and other team members will find you a critical asset to ensure effective communication and efficient business continuity. You will take things off their plate and proactively see what more you can do. The CEO and leadership team travels frequently. It is critical that you are a self-starter, and confident in your ability to self-manage. You will receive direction about what needs to be done but not always direction about what to do next.
  • Adaptability: Ability and enthusiasm to identify gaps and fill them, take a project and run with it, and execute administrative tasks that keep the company successful. Your role will shift a lot from month to month, and we’re looking for someone who is okay with ambiguity. You need to be able to manage your time and responsibilities, ask for help when you need it, and say no when your plate is full – while trying to say yes most of the time.
  • Enthusiasm: It is critical that you’re committed to encouraging the team and learning as much as possible about the defense-tech industry and the way our technology works. You will become an expert evangelist for Overwatch and a master of running a dynamic business. This is not a clock-in, clock-out role!

Character Attributes:

  • Thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced, venture-backed startup business environment, and thinks big
  • Motivates and inspires teammates by demonstrating a prodigious work ethic
  • Collaborates well in a small team environment with teammates, partners and customers
  • Enjoys hands-on work, learning new skills, and taking responsible risks
  • Takes pride in doing a great job and seeing new products reach operational use quickly

What We Offer:

  • Growth Opportunities: As a team member of a true startup, you will learn by doing and shape our future. The opportunities are limitless for those who want to grow their career.
  • Impact Opportunity: We work on missions that matter to keep people safe and make the world better, and we do it at the speed of a startup.
  • Team Collaboration: Work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with amazing teammates. The Overwatch Imaging leadership team believes in an open-door policy, meaning everyone has a voice and access to guidance, advice, feedback, and the ability to pitch crazy new ideas.
  • Late Start Wednesday: A weekly block to have focus time away from meetings and calls. An opportunity to work from home, flex your schedule or self-directed time to focus on training and development.
  • Time Off: Generous unlimited PTO policy to empower employees to make decisions about work life balance based on work and home needs.
  • Holidays: Overwatch Imaging recognizes 10 company holidays.
  • Ownership: Equity: Stock Options in our growing company.
  • Health Benefits: Medical and Dental premiums are 100% covered for employees and their families, plus a pre-tax health savings account.
  • 401K Retirement Savings: Matching contributions up to 4% of pay.
  • Travel: Position requires business travel up to 35% and work in and around non-commercial aircraft.

All applicants must be authorized to work on a permanent basis in the United States.

Overwatch Imaging is an equal opportunity workplace and makes employment decisions based on merit and business needs, regardless of race, color, ancestry, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, age, marital status, disability, gender identity, Veteran status, or any other protected personal characteristic.
