Senior Technical Sales Engineer
Overwatch Imaging
About Overwatch:
Overwatch Imaging is an imagery intelligence technology company working to bring sensor autonomy to time-critical airborne search, detection, tracking and monitoring missions. Our Automated Sensor Operator (ASO) software, native to our own line of purpose-built Smart Sensors and as an upgrade for airborne video gimbal platforms, brings Superhuman Vision and Workload Reduction to users of real-time imagery intelligence systems. We fundamentally believe that modern edge processing and AI-enabled autonomy can perform an important set of time-critical imagery intelligence missions better, faster and more safely than humans can alone.
Founded in 2016 in Hood River, Oregon, we support private sector companies as well as federal, state and local agencies around the world with missions ranging from wildfire mapping and disaster response to law enforcement, border security, maritime domain awareness and tactical intelligence.
About this Role:
Overwatch is seeking a Senior Technical Sales Engineer to identify, pursue, and win international and commercial sales of our Automated Sensor Operator (ASO) software for EO/IR video gimbals. Individual sales efforts should be focused on international markets, including government, civil, and commercial operators.
In addition to revenue generation through direct sales opportunities, this individual will participate in strategic opportunities through technical sales support with our Partnerships, Business Development, and Product teams.
What You’ll Do:
- International Business Development: Identify, pursue, and close ASO software upgrade opportunities with international and commercial airborne sensor and video gimbal operators; represent Overwatch at customer sites, industry events, and conferences
- Customer Qualification & Technical Discovery: Lead structured discovery with qualified customers to understand operational needs, validate technical requirements, and shape ASO-based solutions that align with customer workflows
- Technical Sales: Assist the Business Development and Marketing teams with technical specifications for RFP responses, strategic opportunities, and promotional materials; maintain product performance specs and performance modeling tools; provide a voice of the customer into the Product Management team.
- Integration & Solution Engineering: Lead and support customer demos, evaluations, and integration discussions, serving as the technical authority during pre-sales engagements and early deployments
What You’ll Bring:
Experience and Education:
- Experience in aerospace and defense, particularly with airborne imaging systems
- Expert knowledge of the requirements, integrations and mission sets of major EO/IR video gimbal system customers
- Demonstrated success in bringing new technologies to market and driving execution in ambiguous environments; prior startup or small team experience
- Proven track record of selling into and building credible relationships at the senior leadership level as well as through the organization
- Strong technical understanding of EO/IR video gimbal solutions, automated target detection and moving target indicator solutions, and integrations between video systems and the broader aerospace and defense ecosystem
- 5+ years of relevant work experience required; graduate education degree (MBA, Ph.D., etc) or relevant military experience a strong plus
Technical Competence:
- Strong sales skills, with the ability to juggle multiple opportunities and hardware versus software products simultaneously
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presentations
- Proactive problem-solver with a high sense of urgency and ownership, capable of navigating challenges independently
- Genuine passion for autonomy, defense tech, and AI, and a desire to contribute to groundbreaking innovations in these fields
- Ability to distill complex information into actionable insights
- Capable of explaining Overwatch Imaging’s value proposition to various audiences in any setting: virtually, at the bar, in customer aircraft
- Technically savvy with ability to troubleshoot issues, read technical documents, and promptly communicate findings internally and with clients
- Strong analytical skills, including the ability to model business opportunities and assess trade-offs
- Proficient in software tools for business operations (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Hubspot, Confluence)
Character Attributes:
- Bias for action and situation-based innovation, looking to develop what works “here,” not bring in a playbook that worked “there”
- Thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced small startup business environment
- Highly motivated self-starter able to find solutions to the next challenge
- Collaborates well in a small team environment, and able to go alone
- Enjoys hands-on work and learning new skills
- Eager to learn and solve real-world problems and find new opportunities
- Takes pride in seeing new products reach operational use quickly

- Time Off: Generous PTO to empower employees to make decisions about work life balance based on work and home needs.
