This recruitment will be used to fill one full-time Workday Program Manager, position for University Information & Technology – Business Architecture at Oregon State University (OSU).

Reporting to the Executive Director of Business Architecture, the Workday Program Manager provides strategic and operational leadership for the design, deployment, and sustainment of Oregon State University’s Workday Human Capital Management (HCM) and Finance systems. This position ensures the Workday platform effectively supports university-wide business processes and institutional objectives, across HR, Finance, Budget, Post Award Grants, Procurement and related areas.

The Program Manager leads governance, system road mapping, and resource planning, manages feature releases and ongoing system maintenance, and drives collaboration across functional and technical teams. By aligning technology opportunities with business priorities, the Workday Program Manager plays a pivotal role in advancing the university’s goals of improved service delivery, data integrity, compliance, and operational efficiency through Workday.

Key Responsibilities
System Ownership & Technical Sustainment – 20%
  • Lead the end-to-end design, deployment, and sustainment of OSU’s Workday HCM, P2P and Finance systems.
  • Oversee feature releases, platform maintenance, and continuous optimization of system performance and usability.
  • Partner with technical and functional teams to manage integrations, testing cycles, and security protocols.

Strategic Leadership & Governance – 25%
  • Develop and lead the Workday roadmap and governance structure , aligning system capabilities with OSU’s strategic and operational goals.
  • Establish success metrics, KPIs, and reporting to measure system and team performance.
  • Manage budgets, contracts, and vendor relationships to ensure financial sustainability and value realization.
  • Lead planning and prioritization for upgrades, releases, and cross-functional initiatives.

Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration – 25%
  • Serve as a strategic advisor and consultative partner to functional and technical leaders on actions related to Workday deliverables.
  • Promote transparent communication, ensuring stakeholder needs are represented in governance and roadmap planning.
  • Build effective relationships across business units, fostering shared ownership and collaboration.

Team Management & Development – 15%
  • Lead a high-performing Workday support team focused on both operational excellence and strategic advancement
  • Provide coaching, professional development, and succession planning to strengthen team capabilities.
  • Champion a culture of continuous learning, inclusivity, and innovation.

Compliance, Documentation & Evaluation – 10%
  • Ensure alignment with institutional and regulatory standards for data governance, privacy, and information security.
  • Maintain comprehensive system documentation and operational procedures.
  • Evaluate and recommend system modifications or enhancements based on risk, impact, and feasibility.

Other Duties (5%)
  • Participate in activities that enhance general knowledge or ability to perform assigned work.
  • Participate in departmental processes and initiatives.

What You Will Need
  • Bachelor’s degree in HR Management, Finance, Information System Management or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, including the ability to motivate and set direction for a technical team
  • Experience implementing and managing enterprise HR or Financial applications
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate messages across all levels of the organization
  • Proficiency in project planning and management skills, including risk assessment, monitoring and mitigation
  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities, ensure timely execution, and deliver outcomes.
  • Demonstrated integrity, discretion, and confidentiality in handling sensitive information

This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.
What We Would Like You to Have
  • 3-5 years of experience working with Workday or similar enterprise systems.
  • Three or more years of experience leading in a highly matrixed organization
  • Proven ability to align technology opportunities with business priorities
  • Experience in governance, road mapping, and cross-functional resource planning
  • knowledge of data governance, information security, and compliance frameworks
  • Experience managing vendor relationships and operational reporting
  • Demonstrated commitment to professional development, team learning, and continuous improvement.
Working Conditions / Work Schedule
This position will work a typical Monday – Friday schedule and will be based on the Corvallis Campus. This position may at times require work outside of normal business hours and/or weekends.

This position is deemed essential, and the incumbent may be expected to report to work during inclement weather, emergencies, and other University work curtailments or closures.

Hybrid and remote work options are available as agreed upon with supervisor. If a hybrid or remote option is selected, the employee will have access to hoteling space for on premise work and be provided with standard office equipment and technology required to be successful in the position regardless of work location. If hybrid or remote, the cost to travel for work events at Oregon State University Corvallis Campus will not be covered by the employer. Professional development or work requiring other travel will be paid for in accordance with the standard university policies and rules.
