Position Summary
This recruitment will be used to fill two (2) part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) Student Operations Assistant for the Portland Center at Oregon State University (OSU).

Join the team at Oregon State University’s Portland Center – a dynamic, public-facing hub for academic programs, industry engagement, community partnerships, and university events in the heart of downtown Portland.
We are seeking one part-time student Operations Assistant to help support daily operations, events, and facility coordination. This role is ideal for a student who enjoys working with people, takes initiative, and wants hands-on experience in operations, event support, customer service, and professional office environments.
As one of the first points of contact for students, faculty, community partners, and guests, you’ll serve as an ambassador for OSU while gaining valuable, transferable skills in communication, organization, and problem-solving.

Position Duties
65% Administrative & Customer Experience Support
  • Welcome and direct students, faculty, staff, and community guests in person, by phone, and via email
  • Serve as a professional and welcoming presence representing Oregon State University
  • Support classes, meetings, and special events (room setup, catering set up, technology prep, cleanup, etc.)
  • Assist faculty with classroom preparation
  • Monitor and order supplies using OSU’s eProcurement system
  • Process and distribute incoming mail
  • Assist with building access, hours, and general operational inquiries
  • Provide additional operational support as needed
35% Facility Support & Maintenance
  • Help maintain a clean, organized, and professional facility environment
  • Clean surfaces such as tables, equipment, and whiteboards
  • Submit service requests through building management portal (maintenance, recycling, surplus, etc.)
  • Assist with light maintenance and organization tasks as needed
Minimum Qualifications
  • Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study
  • Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment
  • Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard
    • High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program
    • Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term
    • Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*
    • Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term
    • Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*

*International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered “full-time” by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.

Working Conditions / Work Schedule
  • Located in downtown Portland, OR
  • Typical office environment
  • Hours may range between 8:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. Monday – Saturday
  • Must be able to work a minimum 4-hour shift (4–8 hour shifts preferred)
  • Students should be available to work 12–24 hours per week during the academic term
  • May require standing or sitting for extended periods and occasionally lifting up to 50 lbs
