Position Summary
This recruitment will be used to fill two (2) part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) Student Information Technology position for the UI&T Networking & Telecom at Oregon State University (OSU).

Position will assist the network operations team in the daily tasks required to maintain the OSU network & telecom infrastructure.

Position Duties
  • Installation and upgrading of various network related devices such as UPS, Switches ,Routers, etc. around campus
  • Patching, switch installations, occasional basic configuration of a variety of network gear around campus
  • Data closet maintenance, and remote end troubleshooting in data closets around campus
  • Wireless network related work, such as coverage walk throughs, remote end troubleshooting, configuration of monitoring tools, and possibly some design tool usage
  • Very limited amounts of Linux work; Network Operations uses some open source tools, but there is not a lot of effort required at this time
  • Ability to physically be on-campus is a requirement
Minimum Qualifications
  • Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study
  • Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment
  • Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard
    • High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program
    • Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term
    • Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*
    • Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term
    • Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*

*International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered “full-time” by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.
Additional Required Qualifications
  • Must be able to commit to at least 10 hours/week, minimum of 2-hour shifts during regular school semesters.
